This route features the famous Horseshoe Curve at Altoona and runs between Juniata Shops/Rose Yard/ALTO Tower in Altoona and Conway Yard/Rochester Tower in Pittsburgh. Traffic on the line consists of empty and loaded coal trains, trailer and double stack trains, merchandise freights, pusher moves, oil trains, automobile/auto parts trains and and Amtrak's Broadway Limited, Pennsylvanian and Three Rivers.
Amtrak revived the broadway limited? Also love the idea. Sounds like there will be a lot of diversity, challenges, and great picture opportunities.
Sadly not. Though they were still running it in the time period the OP's suggesting the route be made in, albeit on it's last legs because they discontinued the Broadway Limited in '95. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadway_Limited
Conrail Horseshoe Curve? Yes please!!! Altoona to Pittsburgh? Quite far...84 miles in a straight line. And the railroad is anything but straight. I would be please with Altoona to Johnstown, which that in itself is stretching it for TSW2 from what we've seen.
