So one commuter line that I think could possibly make a good route for TSW2 is Utah's Frontrunner trains. Frontrunner is a commuter line that runs from Ogden Utah, thru Salt Lake City, down to Provo. The line itself parallels the existing Union Pacific Trackage, but it runs on its own dedicated line, aside from the Northern most sections. The line I think that would be most beneficial is the route from Salt Lake City, to the southern Terminus in Provo, including the yard in Warm Springs, and UP's yards in SLC and Provo. This would be Appx 50-60 miles long. Station Stops would include... -Guadalupe -Salt Lake Central -Murray Central -South Jordan -Draper -Lehi -American Fork -Orem Central -Provo Central Equipment Frontrunner only rosters 2 types of locomotives. -MP36PH-3C (18) Pretty much the same power as Caltrains Baby Bullets, so not much work here -GP39 (1) A GP40 rebuilt into a GP39, they roster only one. Rolling Stock Bombardier Bi-Level Cab Cars & Coaches Comet I's
To make the Freight side of the route a little bit different from Sand Patch Grade, I think the Union Pacific Roster Should feature primarily EMD power. Possible suggestions include... SD70ACe SD70M GP15-1 GP60 DLC possibility could also feature Amtrak's California Zephyr, which has stops in Provo and Salt Lake City
Another couple of possible ideas: Patched UP/D&RGW SD40T-2 Tunnel Motors, the UP Rio Grande Heritage SD70ACe, and maybe a UP ES44AC or ET44AC. Maybe some Utah RR locos could be added later as well. I'd love the Morrison-Knudson MK5000C (or MK50-3 rebuild version). This route would be a great western US route, and with the new UP Cane Creek route coming soon, maybe we could run the included UP locos on either route.
