The Western Railways is one of the 17 zones on the Indian Railways. It's spread over 6400 kilometers across the western part of India. The Churchgate - Virar route is a small, yet the most important part of WR. WR runs a whopping 1,201 daily services on the suburban corridor with an average frequency of 2 minutes during peak hours. Majority of the rolling stock comprises of EMU's manufactured by Bombardier and Siemens. The line starts at Churchgate located in downtown Mumbai and goes upto Virar, a city located on the outskirts of Mumbai. Apart from Churchgate terminus, which also the headquarters of WR there are two other terminal stations in Mumbai ( Western Zone ) that cater to long distance trains. It would be very interesting to see if DTG can replicate the services mode similar to the one the GWR, which includes all services running throughout the day. Let me know what do you guys think! Regards.
