On the tracks of the Allgäu Railway, the past and the modern go hand in hand and lead from Lindau to the south of Germany. The route out of Lindau is one of the oldest in Germany and has its final stop on a small island in Lake Constance.

The original route led to Augsburg and from there to the Allgäu. However, in 1873 a more direct route was opened. The single-track line was expanded to two tracks in 1907 to meet the large demand. However, it has never been electrified and until now only diesel locomotives have been running on it. The Illertalbahn and the Schwaben-Allgäu lines meet in Kempten.
In the Regional Express (RE) the DB BR 612 and the DB BR 633 (Pesa) run every hour from Ulm HBF - Memmingen - Kempten - Immenstadt - Lindau HBF (port) every hour. Every 2 hours there is a train in a multiple carriage (between 2 to 4 EMUs) to Immenstadt. There his train is divided. The front part continues to Lindau and the separated part to Oberstdorf.

The vehicles of the 612 series are tilting technology local diesel railcars of the Deutsche Bahn. The manufacturer Bombardier Transportation calls the vehicles RegioSwinger.
The three-part Pesa Link of the 633 series have been running on the Munich - Kempten - Pfronten route since the December 2020 timetable change and on the Illertalbahn from Ulm via Memmingen and Kempten to Pfronten, Lindau and Oberstdorf, in the Allgäu.

To explore is the southernmost part of this historic 89 km long route from Kempten to Lindau. The picturesque 20 km long junction between Immenstadt and Oberstdorf should not be forgotten. The Allgäu or Bavaria would be happy!

What would be the proper historic locos on that route? Let's say in the 80s, 90s?

This is actually a classic train simulator 21 route. The Train Sim 21 version has DB BR245 standard and DLC DB BR612. To build the route either DTG or RSSLO Slovenia rebuild the route in UE4.26 engine from sister game train simulator 21 version. However a part of the route is Electrified at 15kv 16.7hz in the Lindau Area. For the electric trains to be added as an AI either Riesa-Dresden DB BR411/415 ICE-T or ÖBB1116 Railjet if a Future ÖBB route arrives

in the 80s and 90s they drove
DB BR 218. Today these diesel locomotives still run as a double pack on the InterCity train on the Illertal route to Ulm
