I'd like to propose an extension to the excellent Munich-Augsburg route. The existing route is a joy to drive but is rather short, and would be considerably better value for money if it was extended to, say, Ulm, which is 52.8 miles beyond Augsburg, and a total of 91 miles from Munich; which would put it in similar ballparks to Hannover-Hamburg and Frankfurt-Koln.

    The Route:
    • The route was originally constructed in the mid 1850s on order of King Maximillian II, who was King of Bavaria at the time. He wanted a route that connected Germany to Italy via the Brenner Pass.
    • The route today is a major east-west axis, and sees various InterCity Express services to and from Munich, Stuttgart and other destinations; as well as a variety of local traffic on the numerous intermediate stations.
    • It is electrified at 15kV OHLE, and has a relatively high maximum speed of 200 km/h.
    • The line is 52.8 miles long, and connects to the Augsburg-Munich railway.

    Major Stations:
    • Ulm Hauptbahnhof
    • Neu-Ulm
    • Gunzburg
    • Augsburg Hauptbahnhof

    Rolling Stock:
    • There is a variety of rolling stock on the line, including various ICE trains, Euro and InterCity stock, and local RE trains. Perhaps an opportunity could undertaken concurrently to improve the ICE 3, which could use an update to bring it up to modern standards.
    • A limited TGV service uses the line on the Paris-Munich route.
    • Some EuroCity trains use the line for Frankfurt-Budapest services.

    Landmarks:
    • Ulm is most famous for Ulm Minster, the tallest church in the world, which stands at 161 metres high, only slightly outdoing Koln. It is a prominent landmark in the city and can be seen from the railway station.
    • The River Danube flows through Ulm, and the railway crosses it on the approach to the main station, and runs parallel to it at Gunzburg, which gives lovely wide plains.

Great route, don’t understand why it’s unnoticed but I can say that LGV mediterranean uses the TGV 200 series not the EuroDuplex so it does not have the necessary safety systems but also to add to that was this posted for TS20xx or tsw2

There are also considerable number of RE trains running out of Ulm heading South West and South mainly DMUs but backdate a few years and Ulm was a big base for BR218s.
