Bedford to London St Pancras (Midland Main Line) – Thameslink – Class 700 Desiro City

    Quick Overview

Coming in at just under 50 miles (49.5 miles), the Bedford to London St Pancras International section of the Midland Main Line transports commuters into London St Pancras International in around 1 hour. Originating at Bedford, the Class 700 Desiro City continues it’s journey on to the Brighton Main Line with services terminating at Brighton & London Gatwick Airport.

    Fleet

The Class 700 Desiro City is an EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) with a top speed of 100mph. The Class 700 run the entire length of the Thameslink network having replaced the Class 319 & 387 fleets.

    Final thoughts

I feel this route would be interesting and a good length without pushing the limits, plus there is scope to add additional layers on the BML and SEHS routes. Plus, depending on when the route is set, we could also utilise the Class 319 and 387 during the period where the Class 700 was just coming into service and all three trains were in service. There may also be an option to add a bit of freight into the mix with the Cricklewood Depot plus stock moves as Thameslink stable their fleet here.

I like the idea of the 700 being in the game but the route your suggesting might be to big

Well not really. It’s a decent length, with one train and a reusable station too

This could also put out layers for Southeastern HighSpeed and Brighton Mainline

Well said but you might need to consider the fact if DTG gets the Class 700 as part of Rush Hour Train Pack (Forum and community version US gets Acela Express DB BR411 ICE-T Riesa Dresden) you might as well make it Class 387/1 as standard then owners of BML NEC Riesa-Dresden Rush Hour Train pack owners get the Class 700 here. Sound Wise Class 700 has to use the correct sounds which Armstrong Powerhouse has recorded. Because on Train Sim Classic Class 700 AC sounds are from Class 395 DC sounds Class 444/450 that way that disaster is avoided for TSW 2.
