Available for all eras of train travel.
    Examples:
Steam- Includes iconic 'Carnforth MPD' or 'Steamtown' based in Carnforth, where steam trains were kept up intil they were moved to York. At one point even housed the LNER A3 Pacific No.4472 Flying Scotsman.

Diesel- When route was run by diesels such as the famous or infamous Class 144 Pacer, Class 150/153/156/(158 Sprinter) and Class 185. Not to mention Diesels from the early BR diesel fleet such as, class 37, 45, 47, 101, etc etc.

Electric- For an early era of electric I can suggest the Class 85 and 86 as I've seen photos of these locomotives on this route and I think are pretty cool! For more modern times, the Class 68 is available (Common to be used for nuclear waste transportation, as I've seen speeding through lancaster many times)

Extra- When at Carnforth I have also seen Class 56s, 66s and 08s working at where Steamtown used to be.

Good suggestion and suited to both a classic diesel interpretation or the more modern era.

Agree this would make a really nice route, especially the WCML section and the area around Arnside/Grange. I think you could set it in any era and it would still be decent as you could run older locomotives on railtours or Carnforth stock moves plus DRS nuclear moves too. In BR times too, Barrow would feature sleeper services which could be interesting.

A quick correction- the route saw class 142's commonly along the full route you describe, but class 144's never operated to Barrow, they just appeared on the Heysham/Morecambe/Lancaster to Carnforth section where they then headed off to Leeds rather than Barrow.
