Most everybody here knows that I enjoy screenshotting.

One common complaint about TS is that it looks dated.
In my personal experience it's less about the assets themselves and more about weather, lights, effects.
Class 170 shots from Edinburgh-Glasgow can look pretty.
Similarly, old weather is often too dark or grey. Plus the messed up ones.

Some enhancements are a bit silly (not fond of the many little clouds myself) but most of them would be lovely as upgrades.

A foliage upgrade wouldn't hurt either. Sure, it would change how things look, but does anybody file complaints about wanting old Donner Pass back?

I think it would be nice to offer it somehow to the masses. It could easily reach 10, maybe 100 times as many players, especially if bundled with TS 2023 and onwards. Or rather, built in, working together.

Sure, sure, it would further reduce the need for TSW, Matt wouldn't support it, and other conspirations.
    Anyway, good or bad idea?

I highly doubt it will be open source any time soon, not all the time DTG can turn a profit with it.

So you are going on about something it won't apply to

No, DTG themselves can continue development if they want to. That thread wasn't conclusive to me.
It's just an idea / suggestion.

I see two counter-arguments from the get go: some may want the very original experience, and those already paid for it may feel ripped off. Just like I did when I purchased Soldier Summit the 3rd time.

Sometimes I feel I should rather stay put, and just share screenies and shut up.

You don't have to purchase TS again so who's getting ripped off?
That's entirely your choice, I guess some people don't like discussing things when the discussion goes against their opinion.

It's not against my opinion. It's strawmanned, saying it won't happen, because it won't get developed. 100% derail.

I'm in favour of your suggestion, Andras, as long as it is optional and can be toggled.

The most annyoing thing I found was the boosted Bloom shader they introduced in 2020. Unusable, overly bright, lit gauges not legible. Luckily I had backed up the old shaders and replaced that one. Without Bloom, the game looks too bland for me.

So make it an option and I'm fine with that.
