Unlike the S-Bahn Routes of Germany the austrian state wide S-Bahns act as Regional services as well as inter city and Railjet trains running along the lines as well as a DB run EC service from Munich to Klagenfurt. Key Route features- The S1 runs along the picturesque Woerthersee for roughly 60 km with 18 stations along the line with most of the Intercity trains as well as plenty S-Bahn and Freight services coming in from all around Austria, Italy and Sloveina to name a few, constituting a very busy section of the line. For a more quiet scene you can run along the S2, 50km also with 18 stations, this line provides a more conventional S-Bahn experience snaking across the Austrian country side along the Glan river and the Ossiachersee. The line contains Many Historical stations noteably Villach, Feldkirchen, Klagenfurt and especially St Veit an der Glan, which still has its 1912 condition sinage Rolling Stock OeBB 4746 Seimens Desiro and OeBB 4024 Talent 1 The Desiro is the workhorse of this route running the vast majority of S-Bahn services occasionally supplimented by the Talent 1. OeBB Railjet The Railjet runs many services along the S1, from places as far away as Venice to Vienna, with limited stops it provides a vastly different driving experiance to the route. OeBB 1144 + CityJet cab car the 1144 provides everything else including slow speed Intercity services to freight, often double headed. the cityjet cab car also adds a unique experience to the route with its own driving style. Layers often seen on the route we also have DB 101 running an EC service from Munich to Klagenfurt Vectron and 1116 Taurus also seen on Freight often double (or even triple) Heading with the 1144, something not yet seen in TSW Route Map
Yeah I'd 100% back this! Having lived there for 5/6 months it's a brilliant route and certainly one of the most picturesque I've ever seen. Great location and a great list of stations, small and large along the line! Great list of trains to use as well!
