So on ps store there’s loads of dlc with practically half off in the spring sale. On Xbox there is no sale in the spring sale only gamepass 10%.

So is that it now for Xbox owners? Because tsw4 is on gamepass that means dlc is now exempt from official sales?

Why can’t it be on both platforms?

Ruled by Microsoft, DTG have no say over them, I think they can pick what goes in one but not when.

Did you miss the bogo sale a few weeks back? Buy one route, get one route free?

I do unfortunately think that its a trade off between sales and game pass because all the time TSW was on game pass xbox sales were few and far between.

Recent months haven't been so bad actually so here's hoping now TSW4 is on game this cycle won't repeat

Gamepass has nothing to do with it as that only entitles you to the base game.

pretty sure it has influence over when Microsoft chooses to put titles from it in less frequent sales, otherwise they are offering more and more opportunities to get the games cheaper and skip giving them monthly subscription fees instead.

    Good morning everyone,

Looks like this thread got posted twice, as both of them had replies I merged the threads instead of deleting one of them.
There was a Xbox sale just over two weeks ago, as others pointed out we are bound to the rules and decisions of the different platforms hosting these events.
Make sure to keep an eye on our Announcement section of the forum, as well as our social channels, as we always announce when such a sale is about to happen.

    All the best,
    Jan

When they're giving subscribers access to the base game, the whole incentive structure is that it will drive more spending on DLC, as people who might be willing to buy a base game will likely spend the amount they would have been willing to in order to get it on more content for it. As a result there's going to naturally be a disinclination on the part of those making the store's financial decisions to have more sales on that DLC.

I did unfortunately, I was away and couldn't access the store. It was on console only and not on the xbox store on the web. Just my luck!

It definitely has something to do with game pass because the PS Store is frequent with solid sales. The only time I saw half decent sales was when it wasn't on game pass.

As has already been mentioned, Xbox gets way more sales than it used to. There was even a pretty cool “buy one get one free” sale there just a handful of weeks ago which I’ve personally never seen on PlayStation.

In general I like how DTG have recognized the importance of discounts on console, they’re much better than they used to be in the TSW2 days.

not whilst sacrificing the whole point of the subscription free. Why get one when you can get both. It’s not an example of why sales helps get more cash when the game is on GamePass, only when it’s not.

That's my point. As I explained, there is a disincentive to a storeholder to put sales on DLC for games which are made available through a subscription service, because the customer who didn't spend money directly on buying the game is more likely to be willing to spend more money on DLC for it in the first place, and therefore the store operators will be disinclined to have sales on that DLC as the whole point of making the base game available without a purchase is that you make the money lost on direct sales of the core game back and more on selling DLC to far more players who would not have bought the base game. It's a double dip that merges both the F2P model and a subscription model. If the storeholder is having to give the publishers of the titles hosted in the subscription a lump sum up front, cutting into the subscription profits, they will definitely want to maximise their cut of the DLC purchases to offset that. 30% of £29.99 is a lot more appealing than 30% of £14.99

Yes I saw that promotion too, but I wouldn’t call it the deal of the century. The deal was the equivalent to buying most routes at 50% off. It was a shame they didn’t include any routes released in the past 12 months, I’m pretty sure it was all legacy TSW2 routes which was disappointing.

I know it’s not cheap, but your best bet would be to switch to either PlayStation or PC eventually, depending how passionate you’re about TSW. Sales are frequent with those platforms. The added incentive for me playing on PS is I can buy PSN store credit from sites like ShoptoNet, where they offer say £30 credit for about £26.50. Throw in the PS sale discounts too. I’m always saving money.

The big advantage we PC players have is that Steam sales are very predictable and pretty much happen at the same time year after year. So we can plan our spending according to that calendar. ( I have no idea about Epic's schedule ).
Of course we don't know specifically which dlc will be discounted and by how much in each sale, but we can make good, educated guesses.
    Surprises are always welcome.

I am not a game pass member. I bought an Xbox purely to play TSW on it’s release. I also play TSW on Steam and although I play and own Horseshoe Curve on Steam, it is the only route l don’t possess for Xbox. It has never been included in a sale other than discounted for gamepass members. It doesn’t inspire me to pay full price just to compete my collection, so l continue to hold on for it included in a sale as l have no inclination to pay for a gamepass subscription.

l agree with the sentiment of this thread that PS players have more sales than Microsoft issues!

Apparently it’s out of the hands of the people who actually own the product. What a crazy notion.

It’s more likely tied to gamepass.

Thank you. If that’s the case I will only buy it when l have a month when there is nothing else to buy!!! As new releases seem to come thick and fast, I could be waiting a long time. I bet when I eventually purchase it, it will appear in a sale!!!

Nature of the beast that is Mircosoft. I don't let it get to me any more. Since November, there had been a sale on, on average, every 5 to 6 weeks.
Bogoff just finished, so i would expect another one in early May. That should be a normal % discount I think. Got a few things I want, so hoping for some 50% and 60% discounts.

Im still unsure if it is Microsoft. They have more sales across more games and dlc than even playstation. It will no doubt tied to sales on both platforms from DTGs angle. Maybe xbox has a bigger base of players? Also if dtg are offering their game in a subscription model they wont want to lose out on sales so will keep dlc sales to a minimum.

I don't think its anything to do with DTG. If DTG had any say, then surely the sales on Steam, PS, Xbox, Epic and any other would be identical at the same time.

If I recall correctly, retail team take up every sale opportunity they are given.

Doesn't make sense though. Xbox practically give away titles and have constantly got a sale on. Why would they exclude TSW? I can tell you now in the last few years the actual sales on dlc not including game pass has been very scarce on the platform. On ps5 its been very regular. I own both platforms but won't double dip as ive already done so on pc.

I wouldn't say them giving away is reality though I don’t think I’ve ever seen them not do a sale

though not just TSW is it more rare to see a sale than other games, I have just saw Ryse son of Rome is on sale, that’s one I never usually see.

in fact TSW is probably more common than many others but gamepass will cut down on that more than if it wasn’t it seems.
