The Salzburg S Bahn could provide a unique experience to S-Bahns in TSW as the S3 line runs from the small village of Schwarzach Im Pongau to St. Johann im Pongau, Mitterberghuttten, Bischofshofen, Pfarrwerfen, Werden, Tenneck, Golling-Abtenau, Kuchl, Kuchl Garnei, Bad Vigaun, Hallein Burgfried, Hallein, Oberalm, Puch Bei hallen, Puch Urstein, Elsbethen, Salzburg Sud, Salzburg Aigen, Salzburg Parsch, Salzburg Gnigl Salzburg Sam, Salzburg Hauptbahnof, Salzburg Mulln, Altstadt, Salburg Aiglhof, Salzburg Taxham Europark, Salzburg Leifering, Freilassing, Freilassing-Hofham, Ainring, Hammerau, Piding and terminating at Bad Reichenhall hauptbahnof. The route could also open up to some express trains on the S3 line as far as Schwarzach Im Pongau as the S3 line runs along the Salzburg-Tyrol railway, maybe as post release DLC or if you already own say something like the BR101 or BR189 and Eurocity coaches they come included. Length: About 70km Operator(s): Austrian Federal Railways, Deutsche Bahn Rolling Stock, OBB 4023 3 car sets and OBB 4024 4 car sets (S-Bahn Only) Timetable: 2 trains an hour ever half hour (roughly, only referring to S-Bahn trains) The S4 line is much shorter starting at Freilassing and sharing the same route as the S3 line until Bad Reichenhall HBF when the S4 line continues up into the German alps to Bad Reichenhall-Kirchberg, Bayerisch Gmain, Bischofswiesen and finally terminates at an elevation of 540m in the Bavarian town of Berchtesgaden. Length: 30km (20km not used by S3 making the route around 90km) Operator(s) Deutsche Bahn (Freight only between Hammerau and Freilassing), Berchtesgadener Land Bahn Rolling Stock: Stadler FLIRT (S4 only) Timetable: once an hour Opportunities for addons for the route: BR101/BR120 (DB operate once a day an InterCity service between Hamburg and Berchtesgaden, should use the BR101 that already exists or create a whole new locomotive for it) OBB 1016 OBB 1044 OBB Railjet
Excellent idea and your suggestion joins up with my ÖBB route Haputstrecke Salzburg Wien the Westbahn at Verschiebebahnhof Salzburg Gignl which also has a turntable equipped. Also at Schwarzach S3 terminal Snek's Tauernbahn. Of all Salzburg commuter rail S-Bahn routes S2 Goes to Linz Hbf. The reason for this is that the S2 becomes a regional train after Straßwalchen. ÖBB1116 does operate the Klagenfurt Tauernbahn Salzburg Railjet towards Wien Hbf.
