The Santa Fe RR ordered 90 EMD SD45-2s in 1972-74. They were the largest operator of the big EMD diesels. The SD45-2 was an upgraded version of the EMD SD45. Eight units were rebuilt as SD45-2Bs. Five units (#5700-5704) were painted for the US Bicentennial Celebration in 1976. Many of the units were rebuilt in the late 1980s as SD45-2Us. Many still operate on BNSF's roster. The majority have been rebuilt as SD40-2Rs and have 16-645 Prime Movers instead of the original 20-cylinder versions. Three of BNSF's SD45-2 units have been rebuilt as SD32ECOs with 12-710 Prime Movers.

A Santa Fe EMD SD45-2 DLC Pack (or a couple of packs) should include the following liveries:
    -Original Blue/Yellow Stripe Livery
    -Blue/Yellow Warbonnet Freight Livery
-Bicentennial Livery (#s 5700-5704); a must-have livery for US 250th Anniversary this year
    -BNSF Patched ATSF Blue/Yellow
    -BNSF H1
    -BNSF H4 Swoosh

The Santa Fe SD45-2 DLC Pack(s) should also include the SD45-2Bs (in both ATSF and BNSF liveries; also include both body styles; TS Classic had these units in their SD45-2 ATSF DLC Pack) and SD32ECOs (in BNSF Swoosh Livery). The ATSF SD45-2Us/SD45-2Bs would be fantastic for more 1990s ATSF power, along with the Dash-8s and SD40-2s with the ATSF Cajon Pass DLC Pack. The SD45-2 ATSF Pack needs spine cars and other new ATSF rolling stock for Cajon.

Of course, Erie Lackawanna, Clinchfield, and Seaboard Coast Line also ordered SD45-2s. The big EMDs have been painted in Conrail, Seaboard/Family Lines, CSX, Montana Rail Link, and NS liveries. NS also repainted one of their SD45-2s as an EL Heritage Unit. SD45-2s (and rebuilds) could be added in game as DLCs. The Conrail (licence needed) and NS units (also the EL Heritage Unit) would be great to run on Horseshoe Curve. The CSX units (ex-SCL and Clinchfield) would be great for operations on Sand Patch Grade.
