330 kmh is the max speed for the ICE3M train which is the one we have on this route, but I don't think I've either had a speed limit permitting this on the timetabled routes for it.

Does anyone know what the max speed of the TSW route is please, and if there is any way to access any 'fast lines' etc. or if this is all just automatic.

    Thank you

The only route capable of supporting 330km/h is LGV Mediterranean. The fastest German route is Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel-Wurzburg, with maximum speed of 280 km/h

Although the ICE 3/3M can do 330, it's only ever done it on French LGV trackage on the Paris run. No track in Germany is built to 330 standard.

Well, actually, there are a couple of lines allowed to 300 km/h (Erfurt-Nürnberg, Nürnberg-Ingolstadt, Köln-Rhein-Main, Wendlingen-Ulm) I think. For some reason, to get the 300 km/h permission there has to be a 10% security difference between highest allowed speed and highest possible speed by german laws. So, all in all these routes were capable of a speed at 330km/h, even though the allowance is only given for 300 km/h.

    On Kassel-Wurzburg, yes. Koln-Aachen, no.

the last I played on Kassel which I’ve played quite a bit of, very few services I have ever tried, have tried to reach 280, most of the ones that did got slowed before it reached 280, I’ve had maybe 1 or 2 actually stay at 280 for any meaningful time.

Indeed, the 280 sections are few and far between, and LZB may not even permit you to reach 280 if there is too much wind, or if you are driving an ICE3 (which is too light).
