My favorite locomotive is the SD90MAC and I really wanted it as an Add On for Cane Creek on TSW5. What do you guys think?
I don’t know how to put in a picture with URL so search it up! About a SD90MAC This locomotive had AC Traction with 6,000 horsepower!!! CSX does not own these units so that’s why I want it on Cane Creek. It would be a good locomotive to have especially for long loads. Once again, what are your opinions?
The days of the huge monsters are gone it seems. Three energy efficient 4-axle powered locos outdo two monsters. Just look at Cajon Pass. It is very likely more economical replacing two ES44AC/DC's with three ES44C4's, and the SD90's are being /have been largely rebuilt to SD70ACUs. Not saying I wouldn't wanna have it (we got all the monsters, be it GTEL or DDA40X in TSC luckily), but I think chances are zero for TSW.
If not the SD90MAC I hope to at least see a ET44ACH BNSF or a route add on for NY dewwit run because that’s my area and freight power in New York is insane, if they do add that here are some locomotives and rail cars for it SD40-3 C44-9W Steal Coil Cars SD70ACU 80FT box car ES44DC Trash Cars These are the best loco’s and rail cars I could think of for a new route or add on for NY.
The SD90MAC-H's were terrible units. Very unreliable and didn't last very long, most had a life of under 5 years and were scrapped after retirement. Not even worth a derating. The SD9043MAC's never even got the HP upgrade after GE "fixed" the prime mover issues, and most arn't even active anymore (UP has their's all deadlined) And the only ones even on the rail ATM are the rebuilt SD70ACU's.
CSX had the AC60s they were my favorite locos i got them on video on CSX .then CSX stated de rating them to 4400 hp and then they dropped them off the roster and sold them to hlcx
a CP actually had a small order of SD90 macs they ran them then stored them thnk they ended up re engined and became SD70acu s the engine that was used in SD90s in a way came back re designed fot the SD70t4 s only UP CSX ran them and there was a lease demo fleet a pair got BNSF paint to test on it..csx leased theirs and in CSX paint then CSX returned theirs a few years ago think UP still runs some of theirs, The SD80 macs were neat only Conrail had them then were split to NS CSX after they split CR ..some of the old 80 macs got rebuilt into SD70acu s for NS
Still it would be nice to see the SD90MAC running in train sim world just as a old unit kind of like the clinch field F9 loco’s
Does anyone know how to upload pictures on the forums? because I plan on making a thread for some of the loco’s that people have suggested to me.
