I'm thinking about getting the CP AC4400CW from Steam as it's on sale: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1364034/Train_Simulator_Canadian_Pacific_AC4400CW_Loco_AddOn/ Are these wagons included with the Steam version? On the Searchlight Simulations site it's a separate download, but needed for the loco, presumably for QD consists: https://www.store.searchlight-simulations.com/jr-rolling-stock-pack-01 Are the Steam/retail version identical or different?
I would assume that they would both be the same. You need the Canadian Mountain Pass route to run this. As for the wagons, I don't know. I purchased this in a sale about 6 months ago but haven't run it. I shall go and check and report back. Yes, it comes with coal wagons empty and full ones. You need to read the manual first before you drive this as I have just found out.
It is worth noting the one on Searchlights Store is fully branded, the GE builder plates are fully branded as well as on the electronics. On Steam, these logos are removed for licensing reasons.
Buying from Steam you don't have to worry about a serial number either. Also $29.13 New Zealand Dollars on Steam as to $46.22 NZ Dollars from Searchlight.
The big visual difference is branding. The other benefit is that there is direct, more regular updates if we find things need improvement through patches. On Steam, we can't push updates whenever we want out as it has to go through a process. As for pricing, it's totally up to you. We aren't allowed to run Sales on the AC44 due to the agreements made.
Thank you all for your replies! I bought the retail version this morning from Searchlight Simulations own site, and the Canadian Mountain Passes route from Steam. What a loco, glad I bought it!
