So I had an email from Dovetail store yesterday with various reductions on offer. Amongst the offers was a discount on the high speed southeastern service from London St Pancras to Faversham, so I decided to purchase it. Oh boy, as they say in 'Allo 'Allo, what a mistake-a to make-a! :(

So last night or early this morning, I decided to play it. It started me off facing two long platforms with Javelin trains waiting on both platforms. I was about 8m from the trains standing by one of those machines that let you enter when you put your ticket in. Passengers were moving around but I was stuck! I couldn't move despite turning around and trying to use my WSAD keys. Nothing I did worked so back to the main menu I went ... selected the first scenario but this time I was at a completely different station with a different train. I was now able to move and this introduction scenario I was able to complete - drive one station. So immediately I clicked E to continue and selected the next scenario - introduction to the Javelin train. Class 395 I think it was. I followed the tutorial instructions, as usual, then when it came time to move off, the first thing I noticed is how slow it was! The 'target' was to use the throttle to get to 25mph. Are they having a laugh? If I'd got to 15mph it would have been something! After a short time, I got to this 0.8 gradient and that's where my loco came to a dead stop with this really annoying loud 'siren' going off. No indication what it was or how to stop it ... so I sat there clicking on buttons but nothing I did would stop them OR get me moving again so I thought fook this and left the game! I'd also noticed far more blurring/stuttering than in other add-ons/DLC as well at various points. Oh boy, what a waste of £17.49! Thank God I didn't pay full price on Steam! :(

This morning I've been searching and reading hoping to find another thread about this from others and maybe any solutions or explanations but nothing.

I watched a stream a few weeks back from DTG on YouTube saying how bugs should never get through that prevent gameplay, especially when they are discovered quickly in the game. I agree so what happened, are the problems I found in the first 5 or 10 minutes unique to me? I doubt it. How come these issues haven't been addressed and rectified? I mean it's not like they were hard to 'find' ... and I wasn't even looking for them!

In the route introduction you have to "look up and down" before being able to move. And then in the train tutorial you really need to follow the instructions in order to get moving.

There are lots of wrong things and bugs in SEH, but the problems you listed have nothing to do with them.

EDIT: Currently I have SEH uninstalled to make room for CCL, but I did completed all tutorials and scenarios months ago. There was no problem back then.

EDIT 2: Oh, maybe there were some issues with AWS in some specific scenarios. I didn't turn that on and got through. Don't know if the issues got fixed. According to the 2020.2.16 patch note this kind of issues should have been resolved.

Please put the service name on the post so we can try to replicate it. I've not experienced that issue but may not have driven that specific scenario

Just running the 395 intro service:
    Enter the cab
    Sit down
    Insert master key
    Reverser to NEUTRAL
    Press Q
Click and HOLD on DC button
Click PAN UP slowly twice (not necessary now since the MCB closes automatically, but it's still in the tutorial)
    Reverser to forward
Press Y to open left doors
    PASSENGER LOADING
Press Y to close left doors
    Turn DRA off
    Set power to 3
train should get up to 30mph no problem

If you DON'T close the MCB or don't turn the DRA off (or accidentally turn it back ON) then you will still slowly accellerate because you're on a 3% downhill but you won't get any actual power.

You can tell this because the power bar (far left of the HUD) stays at zero, but you do get some speed... In the example below you can see I am in power step four, and have power being applied. You will also notice that the box surrounding the power setting is WHITE, this means you can apply power.

Here is the HUD again, this time with the DRA put back ON, so no power can be applied, but I allowed the train to roll downhill out of Gravesend. Notice the box around the power is RED meaning no power can be applied, and that the power meter is at 0% even though I'm in step three of power.

I think the alarm you got was the driver vigilance device which goes off when you don't move any power control for a while. To cancel this just press Q when it starts going off.
    Hope that helps!

Thank you. Maybe I didn't notice you had to look up and down so that might well explain that, as you say. I'll try starting again later. In the train introduction/tutorial, I did follow all the instructions step by step, as I always do when learning a new train.

I didn't make a note of it unfortunately but it was the first one immediately after running it for the first time.

Thank you very much indeed Ruscoe. That's very helpful indeed. Much appreciated. Just one other question from the HUD please if I may - what does the black arrow in the white box next to the speed indicator represent please? And if it's not a daft question, what are the MCB and DRA? If they're in the tutorial/instructions I'll do them anyway and yes, the alarm may well have been that driver vigilance thing but at least I know now how to silence it. The big yellow button wouldn't work although it did the first time working my way down the list of 'instructions'. Anyway I'll go back and try again. Cheers.

Forward (arrow up), neutral ( - ), backward (arrow down) and off ( X )

MCB is Master Circuit Breaker which is an electrical term for a bit switch. When the switch is OPEN there is a break in the electrical supply (literally it opens the wires causing a break in electrical transmission), when it's CLOSED the circuit is complete so electricity can flow normally
DRA is "Driver's reminder appliance" and it's basically a switch that disconnects the power. This is supposed to be set by the driver when they stop at stations on a red signal so that they can't accidentally apply power without ensuring the signal is on anything other than red. I find it handy when I stop on yellows too, just to remind me not to floor it when leaving a station on a single yellow

The big yellow button is AWS, so not sure if that also does DVD. The pedal down by your feet would do DVD, though just pressing Q on the keyboard would also work
