I’ve been running some of the freight services using the SEHS Extended Version (non-RHTT) of the Class 66. I don’t know if I’m doing anything wrong, but even after releasing the brakes, it feels like the brakes are still applied. It takes a long time to accelerate and shutting down the power, even on a downhill gradient sees the speed drop off quite considerably over a short period of time.

    Has anybody else noticed this?

I would check the parking brake.

Make sure your brakes are cut in. I've had similar issues just to find whats displayed on the computer is incorrect. Do a brake test before you start to confirm they work

  5. If its the one I'm thinking of the parking brake is applied in the trailing loco.

When you say "release the brakes" are you actually releasing them all the way? The 66 runs a different brake style to just about everything else in the game, you hold the lever applied to increase pressure and hold it in release to decrease, so you have to hold the lever/button until the brake pipe completely recharges (5bar from memory) so that the brakes will actually be fully released.

Note that's for the auto/train brake, the indy/loco brake is different again.

Looking at my original post, I forgot to mention that I’ve been doing the freight services on London Commuter.

    The services I’ve done are: 6V16, 7V00, 6013 and 0057.

All seem to be affected (as if the brakes are applied), slow acceleration, slow to reach line speed and slowing down way too quickly. I have fully released the brakes (the Class 66 is a favourite of mine).

One scenario in particular comes to mind and that's where you have the 4 x66's moving them from depo to depo. I struggled getting them moving for a considerable time until I went and checked the parking brake in each unit.

To my disappointment the parking brake was on in each unit, effectively dragging them along. Releasing each unit was quite literally a night and day difference

Yes If I remember Correctly there's one or two 66 services if you are more than one loco that you have to release the brakes on the trailing (extra locos).

Where do I find the AWS activation switch on the SEHS version of the 66?

It’s in the cabinet on the back wall of the cab. It’s only in one cab though I think so you might need to change ends.
