Thinking about buying TSW4 and have a few questions. I like old world stuff though not necessarily steam. I’m wondering is there any context in which semaphore signals are available as yet and if not yet, is there likely to be some DLC in the future that might have that? Secondly, I have heard that TSW4 can be converted to VR (perhaps I am ill informed) but I am wondering if that’s still a thing and if so, can it still be 3D. I have a Pimax Crystal and a high end PC. Thanks in advance.
TSW 4 can’t be converted to VR, but you can use UEVR to play it in VR. It’s quite clever. You still need to use keyboard / controller for all the controls, but the graphics will appear as VR. Personally it was fun for a few days (it does look very good). But I play with a lot of mods and that pretty much messes it up. So no I can’t be bothered with it and just play flatscreen. I also found longer runs to be too long wearing a headset,, but that’s just me.
There are plenty of routes with semaphore signals. In the UK, off the top of my head, there’s Blackpool - Ormskirk, Liverpool - Crewe, Manchester - Leeds, Chinley - Ambergate, and St Austell - Penzance, plus the preserved West Somerset Railway.
Ok thanks. I’m all in on VR albeit primarily in flight but I’ll give the injector a go. Thanks very much.
The Blackpool one definitely. Best route in the game currently. But, if you want the challenge, the Liverpool-Crewe one with the steam engines.
As Jack says, Blackpool - Ormskirk is the best route in the game. Personally I also enjoy Manchester - Leeds very much. It’s a longer run, but the route isn’t as detailed as Blackpool - Ormskirk.
Also about semaphore signals: German routes like Niddertalbahn and Vorarlbergbahn have them. Though the last one has them only in one place. Also iirc Left rhine has a few.
