Just playing with the talent to on the follow the leader Dresden scenario tonight and I just wished to sense check something here.

Everytime there was a reduction in speed I would acknowledge at a signal for example dropping from 80kmh - 60kmh. I was on the breaks either before the yellow number on the signal or the yellow warning triangle. Each time the 1000hz monitoring and brakes slammed on.

I know if you are whacking through the signals at pace it happens but I was within 10-20kmh of next line speed. This train seems hyper sensitive compared to other German locos. Any advice?

What I found with this loco is that the pzb buttons don't seem to acknowledge instantly, and you have to keep pressing the pzb buttons until you hear the sound. Maybe that is the issue here, that you pressed the button, but not Ling enough so that it did not acknowledge?

It's possible as I know I've been pressing them . I always do a "tap tap taaaap tap" or "tappety tap presssss tap" as a rule of thumb.

This is systemically followed by a "BANG BANG GODDAMNIT" if the above fails

DRA is pretty finicky on the speed traps,* of which there are some in addition to the standard PZB brake-curve check (i.e. "85 km/h in 23 sec in Mode O"). If the speed trap thinks you're going too fast for the braking curve, it WILL hit you with a Zwansbremsung. Solution: brake harder. If I see a significant speed reduction coming up, I never use less than B4.

*These are separate sets of magnets, not the routine 1000/500 hz signal sets, whose only purpose is to serve as a speed check. Some measure you against line speed and are always activated; some are placed within PZB braking zones and activate when the 1000 hz does, and check whether you have slowed down enough.

German train drivers must be superhuman to cope with all these magnets checking them and stay on time. I’m caught so many times on Dresden, and I am fairly used to PZB generally.
