Since I didn't any sign of an American route being developed on the recent roadmaps, I felt that it was appropriate to post (another) suggestion for Septa's Regional Rail. It is the 6th busiest commuter railroad and one of the very few FULLY electrified commuter railroads in the US. I have an idea for the routes that seem realistic for Dovetail's capabilities of route creation. My suggestions are below: Above is a part of the Regional Rail system I am suggesting that Dovetail could do. I think it is perfect because it provides a good amount of gameplay and it provides variety. The lines that are marked in yellow are the suggestions. The yellow lines cover the following lines: Chestnut Hill East Line, Chestnut Hill West Line, Trenton Line, and Glenside Combined and Fern Rock Combined Lines (which in itself includes the Lansdale Doylestown Line, Warminster Line, and West Trenton Line (FOR NORTHBOUND TO GLENSIDE) and MOST lines SOUTHBOUND TO CENTER CITY (like the Chestnut Hill West and Airport Line). Also note, all lines should be possible if FERN ROCK AND WAYNE JUNCTION is put in-game, although it may not be the entire route. The only full routes I suggest are the Chestnut Hill and West Lines, Trenton Line, and the several times that trains start/terminate at Glenside, Jenkintown-Wyncote, Fern Rock, Wayne Junction, and Temple University, and 30th Street Station. Regional Rail line info: Chestnut Hill East: https://realtime.septa.org/schedule/timetable/CHE Chestnut Hill West: https://realtime.septa.org/schedule/timetable/CHW Trenton: https://realtime.septa.org/schedule/timetable/TRE Glenside Combined: https://realtime.septa.org/schedule/timetable/GLN Fern Rock Combined: https://s3.amazonaws.com/schedules.septa.org/current/FERN.pdf In addition, this gives the opportunity for scenarios and timetables to start at those stations and the SEPTA Railyards "Roberts Yard" adjacent to Wayne Junction and "Powelton Yard" adjacent to 30th Street Station. Scenarios/timetable ideas can be "dead-heads" and bring a train into service. Powelton (left): Roberts (right): Since this suggestion has 30TH STREET STATION and TRENTON STATION this also allows the AMTRAK NORTHEAST REGIONAL, KEYSTONE, AND ACELA SERVICES to be added to the timetable where players can go between 30th Street and Trenton. The Regional Rail Fleet: The Silverline IV (left): The Silverline V (right): Septa has 229 of 239 of these active 120 out of 120 of these are active right now Possible additional fleet???: The ACS-64!! and Cab cars: It could be possible if maybe Dovetail to reskin the ACS-64s and reskinned the CTC-3s from the Boston route for the cab car or they could just make the Comet II cab cars with the normal cars. The ACS-64 push-pulls are for express services. These trains would operate the West Trenton line from 30th Street to Jenkintown Wyncote (in-game) and I think the Trenton Line (not exactly sure). However, there are express services that are brought into service from Roberts and Powelton Yard. In conclusion, I think this would be a great route if my suggestions are considered for the next US route. It provides a great variety of gameplay and routes. It allows a balance between the high-speed services of Amtrak and the commuter services of Septa. Overall, I really hope this is put into TSW3. I am very willing to help out with references and sounds and I am sure many others are as well to help get this route into TSW
The chances are very slim a Septa route would come to TSW, as we don't know if DTG has a license with them or can acquire one. Unlike other US Commuter railroads (Like Metra or MARC) Septa never had unbranded content in TSC, but no branded content either. (And the only route that would of featured them is the very old NEC route, where the focus was solely Amtrak). So they are kind of in a grey area of not impossible but not likely either.....
Route requires a license from the Transit Agency. ACS-64 600-670 can be reskinned to make 901-915 SEPTA paint. Achievement wise you will find out that you are actually finishing the 640 miles requirement using ACS-64 901-915. Comet II & III needs to be purposely built from scratch unless NJ Transit route comes first then they can be reskinned from the NJ Transit paint to SEPTA. MLV I-III can also be made for SEPTA and then reskin to fit Northeast Corridor Trenton New Brunswick New York Penn. Set this in Era 6 1991-2010 you have R3 West Trenton Elwynn R5 Doylestown Thorndale/Parkesburg R2 Warminster Newark,DE R7 Chestnut Hill East Trenton and lastly R1 Glenside-Airport.
Do you think it would be hard for them to get a Septa license? And do you have any ideas of why Septa would not want to give them a license?
Matt has said from a while ago in another thread that some of the reasons why tocs say no is for safety and security and reputation reasons. Some tocs don't want players to upload videos on YouTube of crashing their trains in tsw. That's basically the main reason. Another reason is that since it is a simulator, it simulates operating a train which means if players had the means to, they could hijack the train. Some don't have time. Some have other licensing issues on who's owned by who and all that. Usually, US licenses are much harder to get compared to uk and european ones.
