Hi All, I'm using Jetwash's lighting mods and SpaceyKat's shadow distance mod on PC. Both have done a great job of extending shadows for most/some objects way out into the distance. However, I'm noticing shadow pop-in extremely close to the camera/train for other objects. We're talking 10-15m in front of the train it goes from no shadow to full shadow. For example, trees have been "solved" by the aforementioned mods and cast shadows basically to the horizon, but other smaller objects on some routes like transformer boxes, railings, lamp posts, passengers, and even on some routes like WCML Birmingham-Crewe, the overhead catenary. This can be extremely jarring, especially on clear days early or late in the day when shadows are long and stretch across the track. It seems fairly route dependent. Preston-Carlisle is wonderful with minimal shadow pop-in while Birmingham-Crewe and the Mildmay Line are nightmares with just about every show not cast by a tree popping in 10m in front of the train. Is there anything else that can be done to remedy this for these "smaller" objects, or are we just stuck with it due to how DTG built the game?
The BS mod description lists two parameters that can be added to engine.ini. If the situation doesn't improve, these are limitations built into the engine/route.
hi there, have a try of this line of code for the ini file r.DistanceFieldAO=1 r.AOMaxViewDistance=20000
