Are we ever getting a fix for this? It was borderline tolerable before the update this week were it seems its worse than ever. Im on series x and i cant believe how bad this is. so far this week: On Dresden, terrible shadow pop in, sometimes the shadows off chairs and poles a few foot away at stations dont render. On voralberg on a short run to Lindau, i had the odd tree appearing, a building block next to the track 300 yards away and a whole train as well as aggressive shadows. Lots of other routes im still getting extremely noticeable lods on trees, where they form a few feet away. This has to be a priority in 2024, its completely immersion breaking and for a modern console not good enough. Even if you cant change it totally, smoother transitions or at least pushing the transition a little further is doable? Cmon DTG you are holding your own game back.
Agreed wholeheartedly. On Vorarlberg the mountain pop-in is awful, it breaks the immersion when complete mountains suddenly pop into existence, especially when before the horizon was flat On XSX we don’t have the luxury of customising graphics settings, maybe that’s worth looking into? Personally I’d have no problems cutting back on the number of passengers on platforms or reflections on rail surfaces or wherever or restricting the FPS to 30 if it would mean increasing the draw distance
Guys, there is only so much a GPU can do, especially the Series S's rather underpowered chipset. You can have a decent framerate and live with short draw distance/pop-in, or you can have long draw distance and deal with a slideshow. PC users with heavyweight graphics cards can goose both paramaters in the engine.ini file, but even if that option were available on console it would avail you little, because of the limited horsepower on tap.
So on PC the average user also experiences pop-in like this? I’m not very tech-savvy (if you couldn’t tell already haha) but I always wonder why my pretty decent laptop can run Cyperpunk on very high settings, even with RTS, but TSW runs very badly
Sadly. Something is fundamentally wrong with either UE4, TSW but probably a combination of both. Ultra settings on a PC suffers the same pop-in, transparent trees and crappy overall look. I’m pretty certain the cause is the thousands of unnecessary and often invisible 3D trees that just get spaffed over every route these days in lieu of a more optimised but visually acceptable solution. It’s easier to do that and turn the graphics down to make performance acceptable than it is solve the actual problem. The 3D trees do look good but turning the wick up even the smallest amount on PC to get rid of the pop-in etc crucifies all but the most high-end graphics cards at certain times of day. DTG just don’t seem to get it, or care, to be honest. Feel free to join the crowd who have been screaming into the void on this for the last 7 years. I fear Hell will freeze over before anything changes.
I never had the route when that was an issue but it’s still pretty terrible if you turn things up even a little bit beyond default.
with godmode and jetwash mod it is very playable most routes runs very and a few good and a few ok but it could be much better if dtg did some performance fixing or whatever is needed
Absolutely. I don’t remember what I set that route to, but if you increase the view distance and foliageLOD even one more point from where it is it’s bye-bye performance. This isn’t turning this into a PC thing btw. It’s just to demonstrate that things are just as bad on PC, even at ‘Ultra’ settings. I genuinely don’t know how console players can stick it with all that pop-in etc. Without the ability to mod it on PC I highly doubt I’d be playing the game as it is in it’s default state.
Yeah, I'm going to assume it's something insane like shadows or Lods being the issue. But then the tree Lods often look terrible.
