The stock you've suggested for the route isn't really accurate to real life. The only bit you could drive the 185 on (where it actually operates) is Barnetby to Cleethorpes, which is maybe a quarter of the suggested route. Northern operate all the Sheffield-Lincoln and Sheffield-Cleethorpes via Gainsborough services, you would want a 150 for those (and probably a 195 too given that they operate the majority of services on the former these days). If you were going for TPE action specifically you'd want the route via Doncaster and Scunthorpe instead.
Another point, the Brigg branch is operated on Saturdays only, this route would only work if the timetable was a Saturday one in game.
Not any more, it's 1 train a day Monday - Friday these days, it changed about a year ago if I recall correctly.
This could be implemented as an extension to the MML if Nottingham to Lincoln was done and then Lincoln to Cleethorpes. Also if Derby to Sheffield was done, this would tie in nicely. Might be worth mentioning it to Skyhook Games. Also if Immingham depot and Lindsey Oil refinery was included in the addon. We would run Class 60's from Lindsey to Derby on the oil trains. This would fuse nicely for MML in my opinion.
If I recall correctly, even back in the past there were only a handful of Brigg line Saturday services running every couple of hours. I think there were less than 5?
Yeah something like that. They tended to run on a 2/3 hourly basis which works out about 3/4 return trips each Saturday. Hardly worth creating in my opinion
Sheffield to Lincoln would be my first choice for a new route. it's relatively long, has a variety of scenery, and covers two really interesting end stations. if it was to be set around 10-15+ years ago (so late 2000's for example) there could be a lot of freight here too between Shireoaks and the two power stations at Cottam & West Burton. West Burton power station itself is directly next to this line, so would be a great scenery asset and would be amazing to have this track included.. as having the power station included in MML but not accessible was a shame, this could put that right. Also the MML class 158 would layer between Gainsborough Lea Road and Lincoln Central as driveable services too, with AI Class 158 layered in at Worksop too for the Nottingham services, as well at both Sheffield and Lincoln too.. so overall Sheffield to Lincoln is a great suggestion, and the next route i'd love to see introduced edit: i suggested something very similar a while ago, so there seems to be a little demand for a route like this! https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/new-route-sheffield-to-lincoln.41636/
no need to apologise it's a good thing! The more of us who suggest this then maybe it gets the attention of those who could make it happen, so i'm really happy to see this!
I like the idea of this route. but surely it would not be part of the MML network? I know JustTrains did the Nottingham to Lincoln extension and other bits to include Sheffield as well? So this would allow for TPE services from Cleethorpes via Sc*nthorpe and Doncaster? Just a thought.
Yes I forgot to mention that the original extensions were for the TSC version of the route. As for the masked word for Scunthorpe, I wasn't sure if I would be in trouble for a place name being flagged as profanity or not as on places like Facebook and YouTube. I have been cautioned on seemingly innocent words. But yeah, I would like to see developments come for the TSW version of MML to include places like Lincoln, Sheffield, Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Grimsby Town and Cleethorpes eventually as that would be all of the East Midlands done and if all the routes could be fused together along with the ECML Peterborough to Doncaster. We could have the Peterborough to Lincoln via Spalding etc and this would open up more layers for DLC trains we already own. Now let's make this happen and let's see if we can do a Class 60 tanker train from Lindsey to Derby in the process.
