I tried doing a 100 car intermodal run with clear June weather starting at Cheyanne with 6 SD70ACEs and I couldn’t get the train to move. The brakes were released and set to lead and cut in, all the auxiliary systems were set. But when I went to drive the train, it would apply power and start to move, but it wouldn’t go past 1.5 mph before losing power and rolling back as if something was holding it in place. The brakes were fully released though so I can’t tell what did it. I tried starting at Laramie but the same thing happened. If I applied too much power it would just wheelslip and sand didn’t do a thing to help. Maybe there aren’t enough locomotives on the consist or I’m forgetting a step, but I’m convinced I did everything right so it must be a problem with the game
Did you fully wait for the rear brakes to show 90psi? I bet not. It takes about 5 minutes for the brake pressure to equalise across the whole consist. Don't just look at the big number 90 on the MFD screen. You also need to look at the smaller number that starts at 0 under the main brake pressure part.
I haven't finished this Quick Starter Guide yet, but Page 5 will give a quick explanation on how to move. If you think you've setup the Brakes correctly, you can just read Page 8. Sherman Hill Route Map/Starter Guide - https://documentcloud.adobe.com/lin...fff1d3a-e883-4b49-bf56-1f76e6852d96#pageNum=5 Also a Video explaining how the Brakes work. On long Trains, once the Brake Cylinder releases on each car separately, 1 after the other [you can actually see this happen in game], so simply releasing the Brakes doesn't release them all at once. You have to wait until the Cylinder along the whole Train empties.
That might be it, the only problem is that it already took over 5 minutes just to try to move the train. I’ll test it when I get the chance
Yeah, wait for the brakes to fully release and turn on the banking comms, as without it, you will barely be able to move even with brakes released.
