Can anyone let me know ow how to get up Sherman Hill on a timetable scenario in TSW 4, half way up the hill it starts snowing, then comes the wheel slip and then no traction at all, tried it with both sanders going, I am at a loss of what to do next, I have found it impossible to get the train moving again, help please!!!
If you are stuck while on the upgrade, especially if it's steep, it's a wrap. You won't get it going again. You need the momentum. Tip, pay attention to your map to ensure you are at max speed when you get to this point. In real life they send helpers, other locos. Backing all they way up until you are level and build up speed is an annoying option.
I've had same issue whit class 66 in ECML whit TSW4, whit snow all heavy freights struggles to depart again on steep gradients, best to do is restart service or change weather before start service
I haven' t tried this roue for a while, I've never been along there in snow. I'm waiting for the Big Boy DLC . One thing I find kind of unrealistic is when it snows and the rails are wet, the loco slips more compared to just rain. I would of thought the loco would have the same amount of traction, as when it is raining, unless it's minus 30C and the rail is coated in ice.
Is it a viable strategy to just spawn a couple extra locomotives for more power? Could always do that I suppose (Left D-Pad while on foot if you’re using a controller)
Which scenario/ timetable service is it specifically? It may or may not have helpers that can be switched in with banking coms. I haven't played SH for an awful long time but I'm sure I completed all the scenarios and a swath of services. If banking coms are applicable, that instruction should be part of the startup routine as should safety systems, but they are often omitted. They are also not always mentioned in the training center.
Have you tried or know about the hill start proceedure, the only 2 routes in TSW that have instruction toutorial on how to do it are the C40 8w dlc on SPG and i think cajon ,it takes some practice to get full hang of doing but it helped me there are scenarios and timetables that make you start your train on a upgrade section..sometimes i wonder if the sanders even work in the game ive seen very little if any difference in traction if im struggling up grades and put sanders on..
Going up Sherman Hill on Timetable Scdenarios, you start off up the hill and get to 21mph, then as the gradient ramps up 0.8% the speed comes down 15mph, that is with the throttle on 8, sanders going, once it snows you are doomed as the speed reduces and you try to get up the hill, drop the throttle to try and get traction, computer says no and you grind to a halt, nothing but nothing, apart from sitting there waiting for a thaw your game is over!!
ive stalled too trying , the only way ive made it is i just keep going and take the speeding penalty and silver or bronze medal but if not worried medals thats how i was able to complete that timetable scenario or others i just get a run for the hill you have to speed some but it helps give oommph enough to make it even with that i just barely make it
