Tsw/dovel games should add a signalling system that you can operate and a dispatching system that you can do since they are adding a guard mode they should add other modes like signaller and dispacher
This would be useful but essentially is going to require an all new game engine. Also real time signalling on a less busy route is going to leave long gaps with nothing happening and the current game engine does not appear to support time acceleration. SimRail for the UK has pretty much cornered the action, if you want a real challenge try their Carlisle which has a timetable set in 1979 which will have you tied in knots by 0200.
