This is no longer on the roadmap after first appearing in March 2024. Has it been released, removed or cancelled? l was looking forward to seeing the Peak Forest expansion and if it hasn’t been released, l hope it is still being worked on.
From the devs in April this year after it was removed from the roadmap. A few posts from them in this thread Simtrack's Br Class 104 & Pfr Improvements
I think it’s just been removed for now, hopefully SimTrack is working on it, unless something happened?
I personally think it is dead and buried, just that neither Simtrack or DTG seem prepared to come out and confirm the fact.
That’s sad OV. Better it be cancelled than present us with a substandard product like some other developer, who l won’t mention, would have done!!!
That has to be the case as it's dragged on for so long now. I wonder what has stopped DTG from finishing the model themselves. If it had progressed well then you'd have thought they could've offered to take it over. (Or maybe Just Trains could for Blackpool). IIRC there were a couple of wagons tangled up with this too?
because it is their own project after all. They probably don't want to do it themselves. There could also be licensing and access issues so it might have stopped progression for now so if that is the case, dtg couldn't do anything
As stated by the Simtrack dev here; the roadmap confirms that (at least part of) their scenario work is for the Avanti Class 805 add-on, which is interesting.
So, actually, you don't know anything Anyway, it would be good if, behind the scenes there was a collaboration going on which could resolve this conundrum as it would be great to have the unit in game. If Simtrack are stuck then Just Trains or DTG might be able to help. If they're not stuck, or if the project has been abandoned, then perhaps they could issue an update. IMHO silence just seems a odd approach.
Don't they also do the JT scenarios? If they do, then teaming up with them to get the 104 done - plus do a Blue/Grey one for JT routes too, would make sense.
Well DTG should be mentoring these start up developers and encouraging them. Depending on how far the Class 104 was on, they could have done a deal with Simtrack to get this much anticipated DMU working in the sim (if that's where the issue lay) in exchange for a slightly bigger slice of the pie. It's all business and DTG themselves probably put undue pressure on the developer by rushing to announce it along with a screen dump of the basic model in a 3D editor.
Well I am being optimistic and I believe it will come out. Although will it be out before Elder Scrolls 6 or GTA6? Maybe. My main worry still is the sounds because if it sounds like a 101 it would be upsetting. If you look at the video around 12m30 in, there is a 104 departing Guide Bridge.
Well TBH at this point I would take it aliased to the 101 sound and physics, even if not correct. Particularly as the 101 sounds more like a Leyland/BUT engine set anyway, rather than the love,y whining AEC engines they were actually fitted with.
My issue with this post is that they seemed frustrated with the notion that people were questioning them and where the product is. But we've still had nothing since then. Especially when it was a 1-3 month section on the road map and now it's been over a year. Even if it was just a passing comment saying "we're still working on it" or "it's not been forgotten". But it's all just radio silence which is a shame because it's something a whole lot of people were looking forward too.
