At the moment the only way to access the free camera (flying camera) with the 8 key is sitting on board a train. This means there is no way to access the free cam while free roam rail fanning at stations. I really love the 'on foot' mode, but the invisible walls applied to that mode mean that reaching prime rail fanning positions (like on top of bridges) is impossible. The free cam can reach those positions but right now you have to be in a train that can easily interrupt the otherwise peaceful experience. A solution would to provide players with the ability to sit in the station seats. Then have doing that give them the option to use the free camera.
I agree that this sounds like "fun", but developing it would in all likelihood take time away from matters related to operating trains, which are the real focus of a train simulator.
A train simulator where one of the specific advertising points is being able to watch trains. Watching trains is part of the focus of this simulator.
