Hi Is it possible to have a fast service pass a slow service does anyone know? For example if I place a stopping service 1 at Rainham (kent) and place a express service 2 behind it at Gillingham I either get a error saying service 2 blocked by service 1 or I can make some time adjustments to get rid of the error but when I get to Newington service 2 always gets held at a red signal on Newington passing loop? Although service 2 should have priority, signalling gives service 1 priority. I tried to increase the passenger loading time for service 1 but then I get a route blocked error for service 2. Thanks.
When you time the trains you also give them a Category - Special, Express Passenger, Stopping Passenger - etc Make sure the train being overtaken is of a lower category than the fast service.
Hi That is what I did. Service 1 is a stopping service and service 2 what I want to pass service 1 is a express service. The signalling will not route the express past the stopper. Is was wondering if maybe it's the way the signalling is setup on that route or that section of the route atleast? Thanks.
In short: the dispatcher must know what every train will do before the scenario starts. There's no possibility of a path change during the scenario for the AI. This would require human intervention - as in real life it is not a trivial thing for the dispatcher. To make Service2 pass Service1, create a "StopAt" instructions for Service1 in a siding or the place you want it to be passed. Then play with the Arrival/Dep time until it works. The Dep time is crucial for the overtaking manoeuvre to happen or not. If you want your train to stay on the same track, make sure you create waypoints / goVias for Service2 to pass you. You must plan this - the dispatcher does not have the ability to figure that out itself. I'll create a demo scenario for you that shows this, will upload it here. You need to give the player train a StopAt or PickUpPassenger instruction at the beginning of the scenario - following train will act weird if you don't - I found it to be crawling out of Gillingham at 1mph unless I put the Passenger instruction at scenario start for my train. Note also that the departure time for a stopping instruction does not keep you there actually for the whole time - you can move on as soon as you have signal clearance, and do not have to wait until 12:08. It is only for the dispatcher to know the line is clear for Service2 to pass you at the time. Cheers, hope that helps.
Hi. Thanks. That's kinda what i did. My service the stopping service, I set to stop at Newington platform and the other service (fast service) i set to go via Newington passing loop. The fast service does go onto the passing loop but stops next to me at a red signal. I tried to increase the loading time of my service but it just ends up making the fast service fail due to the route being blocked by my service. Your demo works a treat, that's exactly what i wanted to happen. i will try adjusting the loading time by seconds each time. Thank you.
