In the preview stream I fed back that the Kassel route snow strobed, others did too and it was “being looked at”, allegedly. It ruins a nice effect when it just turns itself off rather than dissipates
I need to check in with the tech art team but I believe they've come up with an entirely different way of doing that effect which should eliminate the problem entirely. The particles are rendered by the GPU which means once the source of the particles is off screen, it stops rendering them - including all the drifting ones, so the whole lot vanishes. We did add a fade to it to make it less visible but its a compromise. Rendering the particles on the CPU isn't an option, it'd *hurt* The new system works in a different way, and once I know it's done and in a build somewhere, i'll explain it on a roadmap update Matt.
I I think headlights have some effect too. Probably why it looks good on tvl and ntp because most of the trains don't have headlights.
I like this thread, lots of positivity and fun facts (thanks TrainSim-Matt ) and LOVE jokes (thanks @me). More please
