Since getting TSW3 I've noticed the instances where I have some framerate trouble tend to be winter services. I saw this while going through the TSW3 route journeys and now that its winter and I'm doing more winter services on the other routes I'm noticing it on some of them too.

This weekend I was playing a service on Sherman Hill, an ethanol train going from Cheyenne to Laramie in winter weather and realized every time I went above or below 20mph it would cause this big swing in fps. When below 20mph where there is no snow kick up my fps would be around 75-80 when looking back at my train. When above 20mph and the snow would start to kick up, it would drop down to 50-55fps. Thats quite a difference and it gets worse when passing another train which drives it down into the 30-35fps range if both trains are above 20mph.

I don't know if its route specific or has to do with train length, I don't have any issues with it on Oakville Subdivision for instance. Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

It would make sense for it to cause a bigger FPS drop on routes like Sherman Hill where the trains are long. The whole snow kickup effect needs more work, to be honest - it just very rarely looks good, most of the times it's more of a visual disgrace.

Yeah I'm not all that big on the visuals of the effect as it is now, its a little too uniform. It needs some variation to break up the straight edges it produces when viewed at a distance, but thats probably another discussion.

I see that the kick up effect is always present, turning the graphics settings down doesn't remove it. It would be nice to have a toggle like the Motion Blur, Lightning Effects and Arcing Spark Effects settings to try turning it off. I wonder if there is a .ini tweak of some type to turn it on and off?

Yeah, I always said DTG should add the snow kick up to the list of things to turn off. That should have been a option when first introduced. I hate it...doesn't look right.
