Forgive me for this relatively basic question. I‘m normally very active on the forums during new TSW releases. But this year, the fact that the new core routes haven’t caught my attention, coupled with currently being really busy with work, hasn‘t allowed me to be on the forums nearly as much as I‘d want to be. I have tons of unread notifications and it will take ages to get through all of them. Until then…
    • How are the new routes and locos? Any standouts (both the good and bad). I‘m especially interested in what the community thinks about the Riviera Line.
    • How’s the core doing? Is it a buggy launch, or can I start using the free starter pack without expecting too many issues? Read something about PS5 audio problems, but apparently a fix is on the way.
    • Were there any unexpected surprises/announcements in the past few weeks? Haven’t really been able to catch up since the DTG Direct stream.
    Thanks! :)

The Riviera line seems pretty good to me, I think there were a couple of (unfortunately normal for DTG bugs). Morristown also is a good route and the Arrow is a nice drive (except I'm too small brained to figure out how to make it actually go when I try to reverse). I haven't tried the German route.

The train faults system is far too common with multiple pan drops on a single Arrow run and multiple engine stalls on a Voyager run, these should be a tiny chance on a service as opposed to seemingly guaranteed to happen multiple times a service (this wasn't even the case on the frankly poorly maintained busses I used to drive), also aside from the UI notification there is very little visual feedback of the train faults. (It would be nice if you didn't *need* the notification and could figure out the faults which I assume on modern trains could be in the TMS).

For bugs it seems unremarkable, nothing more than usual but also nothing less than usual. As for unexpected surprises, not that I can recall.

    My thoughts:
    • Riviera line has some small issues (such as too many invisible walls, teleports at some stations instead of modelling walkways) but I think overall it is a good route and a lot better than WCML South (in my opinion let down by poor timetable, inaccurate scenery). The timetable I would say is the biggest improvement, with a large variety of services. The scenery I would say is overall good, especially the detail in the depots.
    • I think Morristown is also a good route, with lots of attention to detail. I think the beta testers did a good job in pushing for the route to be as good as possible
    • Leipzig - Dresden I would say is the least interesting. The lack of new rolling stock, and the lack of a remaster to the scenery on the original Dresden - Riesa section is disappointing. The freight yard isn't used much and I don't think the extension adds that much gameplay. I think there are a lot of German routes that would have been better candidates for an extension. I think Southeastern High Speed Extended and LIRR Commuter did extensions a lot better
    • I think all three deluxe edition locos were good choices, I am enjoying them all and I hope we get three deluxe edition trains next year as well. The standard edition trains are good also (though the Arrow III is the only one that is really new).
    • Announcements are nice, although the fact that they are only for TSW 6 routes and they don't work in free roam or scenario designer means I don't really hear them much at the moment
    • Faults are a bit basic at the moment, and I hope we get more (and more in depth) ones in the future
    • In terms of bugs I would say it is mostly the same as any other TSW release, I don't think there is anything major
    • Overall I think it was a good release. I think what could use the most improvement are not many new features compared to other games, and Leipzig - Dresden not being particularly interesting
What I am most excited about is upcoming third party content such as Tadami Line, the Czech route, Preston - Crewe, etc. I think the variety of upcoming DLC's could make TSW 6 the most interesting one so far

The Riviera line has been mostly a wonderful drive, with great scenery and a nice long run. It does feel a bit rough round the edges though, with issues such as disappearing sea and broken destination screens on the class 802.

It's great to have the class 220 voyager in the game, but the unfortunately the departure sounds are a bit pants, and if you so much as touch the cab doors you're unable to move. The interior sounds though are good enough for me.

The 802 is by far my favourite train to drive, it sounds absolutely wonderful, despite the aforementioned destination screen issue.

Onboard announcements for me have uplifted the experience quite a bit, the only complaint I have is the 220 using the same system as the 150, as opposed to the 802 which reads out all the stations.

Station announcements have been a bit of a let-down, in some areas you can barely hear them which means it feels a bit messy.

BLURRY TEXTURES. To my disgrace, the Riviera line appeared to suffer from the infamous blurry textures, rendering it basically unplayable. I did find a workaround by uninstalling WCMLOS but it needs to be fixed ASAP, otherwise there will be little point to play the game on a console.

Lol, it's the same old TSW along with the blinding "bloom/eye Adaptation" problem still in the cabs of the locomotives! It's Ridiculous that DTG has not fixed this along with making some realistic headlight flares.

    TW6 seems wonderful

The best fixes are ones you wont notice as they dont jump out at you.

They seemed to have sorted the lighting for a lot of the old routes. Blackpool line looks fantastic now and I've fallen in love with it all over again.

Passengers seem to behave much better.

The faults, speed restrictions and all the driving challenges are incredibly loved already by players, although I've turned them off as its not my gaming style.

There is much better settings options to personalise your gaming choice. Such as frequencies of faults, speed restrictions etc

It also seems to have some features embedded within it that aren't fully used (yet). Its all coded in for dispatcher playing. You can already do this in one scenario.

As TSW franchise moves forward, older consoles will struggle more, especially with just 16GB if RAM. As memory gets bottle necked the game resorts to lower rez images and the texture blurs to prevent an out-of-memory crash. I dont see this any longer as a game issue but a console issue - they are old and not suited for the current build. It wont get resolved unless console users are able to have 32GB especially if you want to layer in all those other trains, stock and routes too. I really wish DTG would change their Recommended Spec to reflect what we really need.

Riviera line is pure heaven. Too such a point I havent even played the US or German routes I bought. The Voyager is a dream too, that initially had a few teething problems. It also layers into the Manchester Airport route too. There is just so much content that can be layered in from your other DLC that makes the Riviera line chock full of experiences. Trying to drive a steam engine up those 2.7% inclines in the rain is one hell of a challenge (I failed).

At this point I'm neither very positive nor very negative about it. Overall it feels like TSW5 with a paintjob.

I haven't checked out any of the new routes yet, just got the Free Starter Pack and the BR 294. That's a rather nice and well-made loco, not completely free of bugs (like safety systems not counting for points) but I can recommend it :)
Regarding bugs: As far as I can tell, no old existing bugs have been fixed.
The "exciting new features" like train faults and random events are a bit of a letdown, since they are applied to new routes and rolling stock so far and I doubt they will ever be added retroactively to older material. :|

So overall it's very much a mixed bag for me.

    It’s TSW5.5 for me.

Riviera route is nice and probably the second best UK route in the game after WCMLoS. However there are bugs to sort out with the Voyager and Cucumber. The latter needs more evidence of reverb (which is there if you go to outside view) in tunnels and bridges. The engine sound projected into the cab is quite tinny, needs taking down an octave and more bass to match what it sounds like in the powered cars IRL.

NJT. Nicely built route but after a couple of runs it has fallen down the rankings for me. Another slow US commuter route not helped by the Journey mode focusing first on the Arrow all stations bus stop runs.

Dresden to Leipzig. Disappointing. The new section behind Dresden is nicely done but the extension from Riesa is just a 25 minute blast through bland countryside, some of which seems to follow the Run 8 Florida route style of placing down a wall of foliage either side of the line and not much beyond. No bridge reverb on either the new section or the old bit. The 294 is nice but why the heck doesn’t it layer on to more old routes like Maintalbahn.

The core updates don’t greatly add up to much in the final analysis. Signal checks don’t seem to be occurring. TSR’s are flawed with signs placed at random often in the middle of track sections or on platform edges. Train faults where implemented are going into overdrive. Announcement are good but repetitive and need fleshing out. Where the train is late it needs to say by how many minutes and apologise. I can’t believe this was the focus over more save slots, more graphic options etc. etc. Passenger behaviour is as bad as it was in TSW5, cluster like zombies around the train doors or on routes that had the problem before, one unders at station platforms. The awful yellow on white scheme which some arrogant… so and so at DTG thinks is perfectly okay. The UI otherwise is identical to TSW5 which, other than the 6 on the box, we could just as easily be playing as the game looks no different either.

Oh and the Monthly Mastery still bugs out needing valuable Support time to resolve.

I've already turned off train faults for two reasons: they happen far too often suggesting that nobody is servicing the trains in the TSW TMD, and also because they are not simulated properly; train drivers don't have a heads up display projected across their vision, instead they rely on the trains warning lights, screens and alarms and their senses to tell them what is happening yet I haven't seen and fault lights illuminate in the Voyager at least making this marketing feature a further immersion breaker.
The HUD prompts need to be there to help players, however the trains systems should also be simulated so that train enthusiasts can get the unsightly HUD out of the way and interact with the train only. To get an idea what should happed I'd recommend finding some scenarios with faults on the Just Trains Voyager Advanced 2019 in Train Simulator Classic.

Trains are dispatching on danger signals even in the dispatcher scenario; again what is the point of trying to reproduce a railway job experience if we're not going to even try and make if plausible.

It feels like somebody was just checking boxes for the sake of marketing here and even just checking that you can actually read the TSR signs has not happened because everybody should just be staring at the HUD all the time.

Have any bugs from TSW 5 been fixed?

At least the thing is a free upgrade so I can't complain about that, but it is just sad that this game is not fulfilling its potential. I'm sure behind the scenes DTG would like to do better, but they seem to be struggling to meet targets for revenue. There is a lot of work going on and the free route refreshes over the last little while have to be acknowledged too as showing that DTG are committed to improving things, unlike Rivet Games who just release, further break, then abandon.

Not sure I'd call it more than TSW5.2.

The two routes I've driven so far ( Riviera, Morristown ) are an improvement over last year. I'm in no hurry to try the German route since it's really just a retread of an existing line. (if I were a German fan, I'd be very disappointed ).

But the core game is largely unchanged. Graphically it's the same and the few gimmicky features they've introduced seem to be falling flat and are rather annoying, I'll probably switch them off if they continue to be bothersome. And I honestly don't see any substantial changes in passenger behavior.

Overall TSW6 does not advance the game in any significant way, hence the 5.2 designation.

I think this year, more than any other, this release is just some routes.

Personally I regret not just grabbing Riviera & the 220. I haven’t tried the US route but then looking at the feedback thread I’m not very inclined to. One of the Beta testers has logged what I’m guessing is 50 tickets for various fixes & improvements. The German offering is frankly a joke - I wouldn’t mind the reuse of a route that gets extended, SEHS has shown this can work really well. Unfortunately the new DRA shows us what happens when it’s not done well.

The core features are ultimately underwhelming. The announcements are ok, I can forgive the iffy formatting & unconvincing male voice, however the limited implementation onto just new routes onwards is too much of a disappointment. Considering it’s an AI system that uses data from the route itself, they really cheaped out on us here. Train faults & random events have just been a nightmare, not going into much detail but there’s enough issues across the forum regarding them, so they’ve been turned off for me & likely to remain that way.

Overall the only real benefit I can gleam from TSW6 is a minor increase in performance (which still hasn’t been measured so may well be placebo) & a reduced time to load the game.

Riviera has been great though & ultimately the UK content is what I really play TSW for, so it’s been really good to get a decent core route. I have reflected as much in the feedback thread.

Ultimately I’m not impressed by TSW6 as a product, just too much meh with the usual extremely poor update to the menus. Core features have been implemented badly, or too limited in scope.

However if I had bought the 220 & Riviera as just DLC, they’d be some of the better content DTG has released lately. Hard agree with the above comments regarding a slightly updated TSW 5 (though honestly I’m not really inclined to give it even a decimal on the 5).

We aren't yet on TSW2 by the "does not advance the game in any significant way" metric. If TSW7 follows the TSW2,3,4,5,6 pattern are we going to call it TSW6.2?

Yes, it takes support time, and our time too. I had to send tickets for at least 1 objective of the Monthly Mastery each of the past 4 months, and some more for other normal route masteries.

It will be a surprise if I don't need to send a ticket related to Monthly Masteries next month again.

Thanks for all the replies, super interesting to read your thoughts. Good to hear there don’t seem to be any big issues. I‘m not surprised that people are underwhelmed by the new German route, it really doesn’t seem to be much of an upgrade compared to Dresden-Riesa. I‘m excited to check out the Riviera line and new features once there’s a decent discount on the core bundles.

I just hope the lacklustre response to the Leipzig project doesn't deter future extensions. There were so many better choices to extend a German route - RSN, Maintalbahn, Rhine Valley, Hamburg to Lubeck even BBO.

So far so good. I've just got the free TSW 6 download. Managed to port over all of my TSW 2020 content...and it works ok. Bought the Preston Carlisle route and enjoying running that. I'm a bit of a 60's to 80's British Rail blue feller so I prefer the 'gritty' northern routes. Not interested in USA or German routes (unless they come up in a few sales).

If so, then I'd say it's DTG's own fault. If Dresden-Leipzig was some sort of an experiment, to test the waters so to say, if the community would take to a route expansion, they should have put their best foot forward. Try making it as perfect as can be, and from what I could gather here in the forums, the route is far from it.

And I agree that there would have been so many better options for expansion. My top 3 picks would have been:
Add the BASF area to Ludwigsbahn. I still consider this as a huge missed opportunity on that route.
Or remaster and expand Main-Spessart either northwards to Hanau or southwards to Würzburg. Also adds more route hopping opportunities.
Or get TSG in the boat and expand Niddertalbahn towards a 90's-style Frankfurt Hbf :D

The game is the exact same, no big flagship game mode or feature this time around but it has to be a yearly release to keep the shareholders happy. Even the main menu hasn't changed a bit and still uses the TSW 5 icons.

Riviera Line is great and the best of the three, Morristown is pretty good and Leipzig Dresden is very boring.

No changes at all to free roam, scenario planner, livery designer, formation designer, creators club, journey mode or conductor mode.

May be the odd one out here but actually quite enjoying the Leipzig - Dresden route . There’s quite a good variety of services , and with most of the layers feels quite busy . I’m enjoying having a longer route , which is one big advantage of extensions .

    Just the free pack.
No change noted, maybe alittle quicker on initial load. No Penn?
Personally I prefer the new UI colours , easier to read.
Did a freight run on RSN(still loving it), messed up PZB(there was no warning!) so unsure if buggy or not.
I'll buy at sale time, but no routes thrill presently.

Its ok. The usual - lots of bugs - many annoying. Nothing really game breaking so far. It is in slightly better shape than TSW5 was on PS5 at the time of the changeover.

The only real new thing on the routes (the random faults and stuff) I turned off right away - the game already has enough random problems and signal issues just due to bugs, I don't need more, lol.

I can only speak for the Riviera Line, as just drive UK routes. Considering I wasn’t super excited about it, I’d say it’s better than I was expecting. It’s quite fun trundling along the coast in the Class 150. Relatively well-built with generally good detailing around the stations (Dawlish Warren fun fair etc).

As others have said, usual bugs to be expected with a new release…and agree it doesn’t feel like a new TSW6. Station announcements add a decent amount of immersion but graphics are no different to previous versions.

For me, the best addition is the Voyager…if only to add more immersion on other routes (spawning in Man Picc, Edinburgh or Doncaster adds a lot for screenshots etc).

Free starter pack downloaded, loads quicker on XSX but it wasn’t too long anyway, apart from that no difference from previous versions

riviera is great. morristown - meh, but that's just because i can't get into US routes. dresden - definitely needed to just be an enhancement rather than a TSW6 core route.
random events - gave my feedback on the feedback forum...it was what i was most excited about and not have seen much in terms of signal delays

I love that all three routes are kinda network type - you have different kinds of services with different start and terminus... trains are interesting tho some need a bit of ironing to be like top notch... but so far loving all three... Riviera Line is pure chill, Morristown is the beeping inferno we masochists love so much and Leipzig Dresden is my fav line extended, plus some trains improved :) ... still playing those three to see all there is to see in terms of variety :)

and kinda looking forward to new routes and all... liking new features, the announcements are a nice immersive touch, signals are ok, and random faults... slightly annoying :D ... I like speed restrictions tho it doesnt make sense for them to be like 100 or 200 metres long, usually a section with speed restriction tends to be longer... and while ACSES/ATC recognises and enforces those, PZB doesnt atm :)

I'm absolutely delighted with the release. It exceeded my expectations. The routes and their quality are top-notch. The gameplay is very engaging and will keep me busy.

One thing I really missed in this release was a quality American cargo (or mixed) route. I would be truly thrilled to see cargo from Canada.

For me the Riviera and Morristown routes whit the new trains and announcements are worth it, Dresden Leipzig is absolute a shame

Can anyone explain to me what's wrong with the Dresden-Leipzig route?
After all, the Dresden-Riesa extension was a popular request. In my opinion, the new section is well-executed and worth the money, if it had been sold as a separate DLC. The scenery is pleasing to the eye. Leipzig station is stunning. The track layout is well-modeled. The timetable is no worse than on the original route. We got a new locomotive. What's wrong? Why are so many people disappointed with this route? After all, everything we asked for has been recreated, with the exception of the S-Bahn line to the airport.

(Epic Games / Not all Layers/Addons Available) For me, TSW6 has way better performance than the last iteration ( "-dx12" launch setting), which allowed me to max out the game's graphics settings with no noticeable difference in performance hit (Ryzen 7 3700X - DDR4 2x8GB 3200M/T's - Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 5500XT 8GB).
As for the core gameplay: Passengers are still broken, Vectron(all variants) headlights flickering when changing them & some bugs from previous iterations still (obviously) carry over.
As for the new routes. I have no preference/feedback, since I got the free starter pack.
UI coloring & music is decent. But in general, the game's been solid.

Have to say as far as TSW releases go this one is the smoothest I've seen (only been with the franchise since mid TSW4 though). It's the least buggy version in terms of the core and the most stable one so far. Loading times have significantly been reduced as well as RAM usage on PC when loading the game, 99% of mods we had are working, the announcements, the ambience in cars and the platform announcements make a huge difference and the new routes are fun.

Morristown is awesome in terms of business and urban ambience. The Arrow III ist a quirky thing but oodles of fun, the ALP46 is basic since it's nothing new really, the ALP45DP however made me realise I had a subwoofer installed under my desk for the first time since playing TSW. It's a really cool loco.

The Riviera Line is absolutely stunning, the standard trains look and feel realistic and that GWR livery just fits them perfectly. The route is very scenic and runs very smooth for my hardware at max settings, the collectables are fun, the canons are furry entrapment devices, that's the best description I have for them, the timetable is busy for this type of route, though nothing compared to WCMLS, but then again that's a much busier route IRL so that's to be expected.

The Voyager is fun but the sounds aren't really there yet, DTG said they'd fix that once they have recordings. Otherwise there will be mods.

The Leipzig-Dresden route is ok. No new trains, missed opportunities. The route itself is fun but only half is new and the freight yards aren't being used that much for the period it's set in nor does it have the trains for current years really. Multi system electric locos that aren't the vectron are missing on the other hand. So it won't fit perfectly into one era really since it's missing essential trains for every era really. Also never seen 218 and Karlsruher N-Wagen in that route IRL. Leipzig is fantastic, it runs with over 35 FPS on my potato laptop which is surprising.

The 294 is a fun thing but has not enough services yet.

With the 145 expert loco and the expert timetable it might become my go to German route in the future though.

Might also get spruced up by the 232 once that will come out. It would fit Engelsdorf and Friedrichstadt perfectly in terms of size. Not really in terms of occurrence. Since it got electrified and the iron curtain fell those were mostly served by electrics. Big soviet diesels were used for heavy shunting at the hump yard but thos were 120/220s or better known as M62 in eastern Europe, but since the 232 is the 220s successor I'll allow it. Plus there are always trains going somewhere not electrified from places that are so they could be used prototypically to some extent. That part is hypothetical though since that DLC hasn't been announced to come out so far this decade.

Otherwise the timetable is rather boring compared to Morristown, WCMLS or Frankfurt Fulda.

There are some bugs, as always, but nothing major or game breaking this time around.
All just little mild annoyances really, like the occurrence of engine faults on diesel trains for the core or some bounding box issues with routes and stock that will get patched in a few weeks, hopefully.

What still hasn't been fixed since TSW5 is the timetable bug when free roaming after completing one service and wanting to take over the next one. It's at least showing the correct header now but still your last timetable. Also doesn't switch from the conductor timetable to drivers timetable, but that could always have been a bug, don't really play a lot of conductor mode except for mastery.

I highly recommend getting the deluxe pack of TSW6 though. It's fresh and fun and stable.
Overall a great job from DTG and second and third parties.

    Almost zero Traffic

Because from what I've seen in videos (I myself stopped buying TSW every year), there is no feeling of integrity. It's as if two separate fragments were glued together, yet they remain independent of each other.
To my mind Dresden-Leipzig in TSC is better in all respects

For me is the lack of proper rolling stock. There are no IC2 train sets NONE. No BR146.5, BR147.5, CD Cargo (393, 383 or 388), CD BR189, CD 193, ANY SBB Cargo International (ELL) . They all run up and down this route! Like many others asked for this!!

I like that there is LZB section, it is more accurately implemented apparently (someone pointed out that LZB turns on only once the whole train has passed etc), there is 200, 160 and back to 200 kph alternation, also LZB/AFB exit procedure which is sth I love to do... also, now you have two awesome routes - if you want a more condensed, if slightly less accurate experience, you can still play the OG route (tho without Coswig/Friedrichstadt line), and if you loved the OG route but always wanted to go BEYOND Riesa, now you can :) ... with 146.2 it is a similar experience now as Frankfurt Fulda, which I personally enjoy a lot (long REX service with LZB thing)

also, with RE50 and 442, you can now enjoy the whole RE50 and the remade tempomat functionality (you actually have to have some throttle engaged and not just minimum as in the OG 442)

so basically OG route but with even MORE variety in everything

my OCD kinda kicked in when doing the highspeed bypass, since I didnt remember such speed variety in there, but I had made a couple runs on the OG and the new route, and it is the same O:)

so all in all, loving the extended route

I also like the Arrow III, makes a lot of noise, and as a track joint sound afficionado, loving that lol

oh that goes without saying. But since I'm an US guy some might say I'm biased :) .either way Arrow 3 is fun to drive

for me the reason I like Arrow III is more nostalgia you could say - even tho it isnt the same kind of EMU as the one serving South Shore Line, the looks/design strongly remind me of those units, of which I have nice memories :) ... when talking about Morristown line, I also thoroughly enjoy the power changes (ALP45 diesel to electric, ALP46 12 to 25 kV, even tho automatic), and each loco having sth different thats interesting... ALP46 reworkings are really neat, will have to try if it shows correct voltage on NEC route... ALP45 is kinda badass :) ... and Arrow III kinda reminds me of LIRR EMUs, the acceleration is pretty wild

Personally I don't think Dresden - Leipzig is bad, Dresden - Riesa was a good route and I don't think it makes it worse, but my issues with it are:
    • Missing highly requested sections like Leipzig Hbf (tief), the city tunnel, and Dresden airport branch
    • Leipzig ICE-Werk should have been included, since Riviera and Morristown both have explorable depots
    • No upgrades to layered trains like the 1442
    • No new rolling stock with standard edition, not even any new freight wagons
    • The freight yards are not used much
    • The original Dresden - Riesa section hasn't been changed much
    • I think an extension would have been better for a more highly requested route (such as any that are still on TOD 3), and would have added more
Routes I think would have been better candidates for a remaster + extension are:
    • Rapid Transit: One of the earliest US routes has already got an extension and the earliest UK route is getting a remaster soon, it would be nice for an early German route to get a remaster as well
    • Hamburg - Lubeck: Remaster the scenery and include a unelectrified line such as to Kiel or Puttgarden, so there is more variety
    • Koln - Aachen: A remaster would go well with the new timetable, and an extension could provide an opportunity for cross border services to Belgium or the Netherlands

    Rapid Transit - absolutely
Hamburg - Lubeck, hell yeah :D
Koln - Aachen - while it didnt get a proper remaster, the new timetable that it got is really great (even tho some trains when going LZB they only get like half the points)

also, while there is technically no new rolling stock besides 294, 411 received a lot of nice polishing lately (AFB braking under LZB doesnt lock throttle now, finally), 442 has reworked physics, suspension and tempomat, 143 finally got into proper shape in Frankfurt S-Bahn (and 146.2 finally got working LZB in Frankfurt Fulda)... so you get a lot of "old" stock with updated and much improved versions

so personally, all three routes present good value to me :)

It saddens me that HBL was not upgraded to TODv4 to compliment the release of the DB BR 218 add-on and that SKA was not upgraded to TODv4 with Joe's amazing timetable. Because of this, I avoid playing these two routes as much as I would like versus newer routes.

Better than expected. This may be the best set of base routes in a TSW edition yet.

For the US specifically, this is the best offering yet out of any TSW summer core route offering. DTG finally included a Deluxe loco offering for the US which hadn't happened before. Riviera and Leipzig-Dresden were probably the two most requested routes. So to me is the best TSW offering yet.

for me the top thing is that all three routes are kinda network-like, and as such have a ton of replayability / variety... as for ALP45, I LOVE the fact we have to change power... it's one of those things I always look forward to, because they break the cycle of doing almost the same (setup, driving, braking etc)
