As it's the completely bonkers season. I propose that dtg should create the sodor island route. Set on a fantasy island, its size unknown, from episodes I've seen of Thomas and friends it's big! As it's a fantasy island dtg can make this route worry free, no one will be able to mock it because its not real. As we are soon to get Thomas and friends, I think it's only fair they should be able to roam in their natural environment. You could easily keep expanding on it and sell us a expansion pack on a monthly basis. Even sell us friends of Thomas periodically. This may seem like a joke but sodor island is not for the faint hearted! With ridiculously steep grades, tight curves, wibbly wobbly bridges, underpowered engines and the troublesome trucks fighting you every step of the way, It can make for some really demanding driving experiences. As 99.9% of the people on earth can picture Thomas and friends in their minds, I needn't post any pictures. Merry Christmas.
I did look it up. Although having children of all different ages, I've seen quite a few episodes. I can't see how it all fits on such a small island.
The main line is roughly 80 miles, taking around an hour to go from end to end. Fits the bill for a route with a decent length and run time.
If dtg recreated part of the island I'd buy it. I made soda island for the kids on tsc. On a 36 square mile british Isle.
They only make American cream soda on soda island I'm afraid. It's a Isle in the southeast. Don't panic people it's not another 3rd rail electrostar route.
Are you kidding? People don't worry in the least if their complaints are based in reality. "Looks good enough" isn't acceptable for the game, but "sounds good enough" is more than acceptable for griping about it. Sorry to hear that. My sister likes cream soda, but it's just odd to me.
Yeah I must admit some of the things I've seen complaints about, or even some of the things complained about are quite silly. Yeah it tastes like ice cream too me. Perhaps I can have a word with the thin controller, see if we can get some other soda's on the menu.
So what's everyone's favourite line on Sodor? For me it's easily the Skarloey narrow gauge railway. All the stories of Peter Sam, Sir Handel, and the rest were my favourites when I was little.
I used to work with Peter Sam, Sir Handel and Duncan. Painted them too, in real life. Never did Skarloey or Rheneas.
I like the first half of Season 4 for this exact reason. The stories are some of the best, in part because they were based on events that occurred on the real life Tallylyn Railway of which it is based.
Ffarquhar and "Little Western" branches tied for standard gauge, and it is very hard to not like the Skarloey narrow gauge line. Duck's stories were always my favorite books growing up.
To be fair that only does so much when talking the TV show, so many locations which you'd have toss your hands up at and just go "I don't know", like the infamous Three Way Road. And that's not even factoring the infamous Hit or Nitrogen eras, which very clearly didn't not give a toss about exact locations. Also worth noting the series under David Mitton actually has a confirmed map that's rather different from the Railway Series, so that's another complication that has to be dealt with any hypothetical situation involving Sodor.
From what I remember, not that I can remember the names of any lines. They all look rather interesting to me. I quite like it when Thomas goes urban exploring down the abandoned lines of sodor.
A cut down version could be based on the geography of the Isle Of Arran, or even Portland in Dorset as used for Project Platform in TSC. Actually think I already beat the OP to it suggesting this the other day. Given the likely attention span of the target audience, a condensed version is more desirable, as it is I can’t see the average youngster spending 80 minutes crawling across the WSR at 25 MPH. Find a good model railway track plan maybe one that’s a bit of a rabbit warren and adapt it to reflect the locations in the genre.
A deeper dive into this thema would be nice. I also have a number of ideas that could be cool. Maybe in some kind of miniature world, where the first recordings of thomas took place. But then less details on the trains, for example with no interior. To make more different characters can be presented. And other physics to be able to experience more fun. Such as self-occurring events like in the movies where you as a player have to take action by yourself to prevent something from happening. And instead of a timetable more things on the map that change or that you can adjust on yourself outside of the story mode. I think a nice theme could be made here. Or even another game in collaboration with creators of the series
Any british Isles of fairly good size with a mixture of big hills and some cliffs would do. From what I remember from the stories and shows, the island has had many variations over the years. When I was making soda island, I followed part of the existing railway on the island and the rest was just random. The kids loved it. I guess in their minds it was sodor island.
It simply never made sense to me that they didn't add the sodor island in, its a key feature. Not to mention there's less characters than there should be for a PAID dlc.
We have paid DLCs in the form of gameplay packs which are mostly just reskins. How is this one any different?
The difference is you get bigger variety in gameplay packs with locos and wagons from different country's, whereas this has only 2 locos a wagon, and 2 coaches. Whereas previous packs had 2 or 3 locos. So I would rather of had them go the extra mile than cut short.
That's why I'm (hopelessly) hoping that this one will be more than that, and maybe will be better value for money.
When I went on a day out with Thomas, on the kesr. He did look rather bored, crawling around at 25mph all day.
