As many of you will know, I'm making my own rail vehicle (a subway car.) When I sit down, the cab seems rock-steady, which gets my hopes up every time until the screen fades to black. I strongly suspect something else other than an actual derailment is at play, as putting the same formation behind a pair of M3s has no such issues.

I hope the Simulation asset doesn't need to be fleshed-out and functioning for this not to happen, as I wanted to be able to at least sit down in the cab before I start setting up controls and troubleshooting the simugraph side of things, besides the basic bogies and axles setup. Also, the service works fine with AI driving, without the M3s in the lead, if that's any indication.

Does anyone have anything to suggest? I would ask on discord, but I'm still too new to it to find the right place or person to ask, if I'm being honest.

    hmmm....

noticed a bit of vibration on the compass in the second or so between sitting down and the service failing. It may be possible I've got something slightly off in the values for the axle, or the gauging of the wheels. I may also be able to have the AI drive me out of the tunnel and try switching to external view as I sit in the driver's seat, in order to catch any untowards behaviour of the wheels or bogies.

So, a fair bit of detective work ahead of me, but some things to investigate tomorrow, if I have a spare moment or two in the evening, when I'm not doing laundry or getting my tax return ready.

    Aha, a clue, Watson!

It seems that once his model and animation are defined, our AI driver (relatably) spawns on the floor outside the cab in a foetal position. Perhaps a case of bad parenting? I shall investigate on the morrow.

Well, for the first time ever, it all seems to work, albeit without being able to apply power or anything yet. No impromptu dance moves from the train any more.

That poor driver just needed a socket to attach to. The poor Simulation Asset just needed to get rid of the two extra axles I must have left in there due to some sloppy copy-pasting, and now this poor plugin developer just needs to go to bed. At least I'll sleep soundly, after all that!

I was struggling to attach an image to the message I sent earlier so thought I'd post it here.

This image shows the Event graph for the Regulator Control

The second image shows the implementation of the updated "Reg Rotation" variable in the Cab Animation blueprint.

This might clarify my earlier message.
