TLDR as some people hate me (fair enough) -the thread earlier today (now locked) with a video of mine was not created by me. I agree it was arrogant and apologise for any confusion. I was just made aware of a thread in the General Discussion section where someone unaffiliated with me or my channel reposted one of my videos accompanied by rather arrogant remarks about certain users. I had no involvement with that and certainly am not milking this forum for views or other personal benefit. There were some defamatory remarks being thrown about (again, if you dislike my content that's fair enough, but insults etc are a bit lame), and I am genuinely interested in serious feedback. I spent quite a lot of time on the video in question constructing fairly objective arguments to justify my negative outlook on TSW4. Contrary to what was implied by many in the locked thread, I do not want everyone to share my opinion. Personally, I dislike TSW4 as a concept and what it stands for but by all means if you enjoy it that's great! Sorry for the ramble but I was wincing reading that thread and I reckon some clarification is required.
Hi, I posted in that thread and while I don’t have a high opinion of your video, you have every right to your opinion and to make what you want. I realised that the video wasn’t made by the person posting it. It was the thread title I was mainly objecting to. If you want my feedback on why I didn’t like the video. It’s because it just came across as a list of complaints. You didn’t make any opposing view or discuss any opposing points. If you had presented the opposing opinion and then said why you disagree it would have come over with far more impact. But it was honestly like you’d used the forum for your research and only picked out the negative threads. Therefore it really didn’t come across as your own opinion but just a plain old rant and I just don’t see what the point of those types of videos are personally. Also unless it’s the style your followers like, I suggest not using terms like ‘Cash Grab’. It’s the kind of term people use to deliberately divide opinions. It never comes over well without any context. Anyway good luck with your YouTube channel. You can probably tell that I won’t be subscribing, but I wish you success with it.
Thanks for your feedback, I truly do value your comments. I can say that I didn’t use the forum at all more or less for that video, but I can see how some may think I did. I stand by my belief that TSW4’s main purpose for DTG is revenue raising, but I’ll be careful to avoid calling these things a cash grab too much. As for the complaints, I thought at the time that there was satisfactory balance between criticism and advice but I’ll review that in due course. Thanks again for your feedback!
Very nice video of yours. Agree 90% except cash grab (it is still very attractive price for three new routes, I consider TSW4 (5,6..) as addons). Most funny is effortless volumetric fog hurray achievement! Fanfares practically for ticking the box! You got my like. The freedom of speech is being slowly killing by freedom of emotions, people are so soft right now, that every adjustment (not even critic) of their own view of mind is considered offence, so they will start to convince that it is you who is not objective (didn't consider opposite view i.e.) and aggressive, that it is you you who needs to start considering everyone's feelings and it is problem of your individuality, NOT pseudo idealistic hivemind majority. Keep up good work Mate.
You want honest feedback? You can totally criticise DTG. ( I do), but honestly really what the issue with the whole situation is that your delivery is really bad, it comes off as rude and condescending especially to people who enjoy DTG. Sure DTG might have its own issues, but honestly the delivery is what’s wrong. You can express your frustrations about the company without having to come off in a rude and condescending way. Also the amount of content you put out on one topic, can be sometimes a bit confusing. Because you’ll state somethings not worth it (fair enough) and then continue to make videos about the topic, I understand you need to generate content to keep the channel alive, I don’t understand the point of speaking on said topic repeatedly if you don’t like the general content. Also a lot of people on here get upset because you basically just repeat what’s being said in the forums, some stuff which ends up not being true at all. What I do like about your content (personally) though are the slideshows and the route/ content suggestions, as well as your chill short drives and longer drives. Sure you can call out DTG but those are my gripes with the content. You can definitely call out DTG, but not in a way where it is constantly going on because it makes your channel not look good overall with the TS Community (Trainspotter From Tauranga) is a good example. He makes good points, but his attitude is lame, so it spoils the context of the video. Also, there’s a lot of toxicity in your comments (which really isn’t your fault) but it can be a bit of a negative. Apart from those things, overall your channel is full of potential but those little things I mentioned are really what kind of causes you to get hate. Like in that crushing criticisms video, you resorted a lot to personal insults, which also just doesn’t seem to give the sense of objectivity. Sure a few people can be overly passionate about a game, but personal insults in a criticism video doesn’t make sense at all. Try to take it from a less vulgar and abrasive point of view and do it in a more constructive way. Constructive Criticism really helps a lot, logic and unbiased discussions. That’s what would make your content stand out more when it comes to reviews, with your other content, it’s actually quite good to be honest, but the reviews need improvement. Sorry to keep probing but could you elaborate on the personal insults bit? The vulgarity comes from my Aussie vocab unfortunately and it’s pretty normalised and not something I can change easily (no joke it’s like asking a Brit to start talking in an American accent, genuinely very difficult). I understand about the repeated content but generally I try to discuss different topics in each video. I’ll work more on this though. Are there any specific elements of delivery (other than less coarse language) that you feel could be improved? With regard to the forums, whilst I’m reasonably active on here I very rarely use it to fork my opinions, more often than not it’s coincidental that my feelings are similar. Don’t get me wrong, from time to time I do add comments from something I’ve read here, but this is always accompanied with some sort of ‘I’ve read on the forums that…’ Thanks again for your feedback!
To be honest, I would just say attitude, but I don’t know if that counts. But it is good you are actually asking for feedback rather than just shrugging it off so I really appreciate you for that. I hope your channel grows a lot.
