Some Ideas To Improve The Game

    Whenever I've bought a DLC for Train Sim World, within a week of buying it I've completed all the scenarios, done a few services and after that I won't touch it again. While the scenario planner and livery editor have somewhat improved this, the game still seems empty and a bit boring, which is unfortunate as for the few hours I actually have things to do in the game, it's really fun. I have some suggestions that could improve this feeling with the game.
    • More scenarios on routes with more variety: Five scenarios per route is not good enough. I have played every scenario for every route and train I own (bar the winter one with the Class 40, which is incredibly difficult and the only time TS has challenged me), which is something I could never accomplish in Train Simulator, which is why I play it so much more. The problem with many of the routes in TSW is that they don't have much to do on them. The Bakerloo Line and Rapid Transit only have one type of service: stopping commuter services. Great Western Express is still loved by the community because (other than being one of two modern British routes in the game) it has a variety of services, and there was an 'x-factor' in the scenarios that made them so fun. In fact, to date, GWE's scenarios are the only ones I've replayed, and GWE itself is by far my most played routes. There's non-stop expresses, semi-fast and stopping commuter services and freight. Unfortunately DTG have picked a lot of routes that in their default state have very little opportunity for different styles of play. We need more scenarios that are more than just point A to point B (Rapid Transit was literally just A to B scenarios all the time). In the old days of Train Simulator, the quality of DLCs was lower, but the variety of scenarios was so much better. We need to go back to those days.
    • Go a bit mad: Talking about the old days of TS, the same x-factor that was in GWE was present in old Train Simulator, but in much larger quantities. Somerset and Dorset had a scenario where you drive a steam locomotive on the final service on the line before its closure. There was a scenario on that route as well where you drive a Class 66 in an 'alternate reality' scenario. The 66 also had a scenario on Hagen-Siegen where you take some empty passenger coaches to be repaired. The Class 08 had a scenario where you reform a set of newly-refurbished Mark 3s that had been moved around the yard by a joker at the depot. I absolutely loved these scenarios, because they were a bit of a laugh in a game that is seen by the wider gaming community as a bit boring and nerdy (see this video for what many people see Train Simulator as). I want to see more fictional and semi-fictional scenarios in TSW.
    • Don't lock trains onto routes DLCs: In old TS (sorry), when the eight routes were all included, a train DLC could include scenarios for as many routes in the game as DTG wanted, as all players would own the same routes. I'd like to go back to that, because locking trains onto specific routes makes them less usable. The Class 08 from BRHV and TVL could easily be reskinned and used on WSR in scenarios, for example. The Class 33 could be reskinned into BR Blue and be used on other routes. The HST could be reskinned and used on a massive amount of routes. I know it's how the game is set up, but making the route the train is 'for' required to even buy the train makes it harder for new players to get into the game and reduces the amount of possible scenarios included in DLCs.
    • Prices: Sales in Train Simulator are great. I can get trains at a really low price (sometimes as low as £2.50) and then, for the price of one DLC at the normal price, I can get several. The prices of DLC in Train Sim World are ridiculous. I know DTG puts more effort into them than TS routes, but £24.99 is expensive no matter how detailed the content is. At £11.49, train DLCs are also too expensive, and it was even worse in TSW1 where they could only be properly used on one route. It doesn't help that DLC is rarely on sale on consoles, and when it is, the prices aren't much better. I think that the £14.99 price for many routes in TS was 'just right'. An investment, but not as expensive as the game itself. Trains should go down in price a bit. Maybe £8/9? We also need to price DLCs based on the amount of content in them. The Isle Of Wight, at £20, is too expensive for a microscopic route. And how come the BR Heavy Freight pack comes with two trains but costs the same as train DLCs that only have one?
