Quite often on the streams DTG staff say that one of the main considerations when deciding on a new route is offering the player something that doesn’t already exist. With that in mind does anybody have any guesses for what routes we could see next? Plenty of suggestions in the forums for the Brighton Mainline, Waterloo to Southampton and more Southeastern routes, which I would love to see but don’t match that description of providing something new. Purely speculative but would be interested to hear your thoughts.

Well, two of my perennial suggestions would definitely be different:

    1) A vintage German route
    2) An Amtrak or Via route, since after the demise of NEC we have precisely zero North American mainline passenger routes

    plus

    3) An Australian route, because a surprisingly large percentage of TSW's player baser are Aussies. And we would get an interesting mix of British-based signaling and procedures with (mostly) American traction.

I actually think something exotic would be very cool in TSW. A route set in somewhere like Japan or Eastern Europe with very different locos from what we have now I think would draw a lot players since everyone is used to the British, German, American cycle. (LGV was obviously an exception, but DTG did already have that route in TS1)
