Have had Spirit of Steam since it launched for TSW2. When TSW3 launched with the upgraded SOS something broke in it and I started getting Service Failure". Thought that I might be able to get somewhere when the Steam Railtour pack launched for WCL but again other than completing the training I have yet to be able to complete a run in a steam loco without getting the dreaded "Service Failure." Yesterday I tried deleting my game save data (series S) and tried again. After a lot of faffing about (seems my DTG live data is bugged and causes the game to crash to dashboard when I sign it in) I did the steam tour run on Edinburgh-Glasgow and on an unsigned in game I still got the "Service Failure" run ending. It makes no difference what route I'm driving the loco on I cannot finish the run due to the Service Failure message!

Put steam firing mode to “automatic” in the settings. That should stop the random service failures.

Has been auto or assisted since I first bought the Add-on. Doesn't matter which of those it's on either I still get service failure on every run

Thanks to Stujoy and Antony Henley for the advice of having firing set on auto. I managed to almost get to Glasgow on that railtour before the dispatcher decided that they'd park a 37 in the platform I was supposed to use. Hopefully that's fixed the issue I was having

It really sucks that we have to do this. Managing the vents at least gave us something more to do.

Yeah, and the auto firing isn’t producing enough steam so driving isn’t really that pleasurable at the moment.

but it is funny watching the firebox doors opening and closing when there's no fireman with you

When there is a fireman/woman having to keep opening and closing the firebox door every few seconds is annoying.
It should be so If the loco is working hard the fireman/woman leaves the firebox door open whilst they pile on the coal.
