Seems to be universal and got worse with TSW5. It is quite spoiling the wonderful audio created for the Class 87 on WCMLOS.

On Playstation the audio don't have a good loop transition, it is for some reason broken on PS. This is already a issue since TSW2..

All the sounds on Xbox are god awful. It’s got to the point where half the time I don’t play with the game audio anymore.

Although sound popping is definitely real, I have noticed that it is much reduced after playing through a route once. For instance, the first time playing TVL after downloading it for TSW5, the pops were unbelievable. However, on the second playthrough they were very much mitigated. It also seems to affect the older routes more, at least to me. I haven't really noticed this problem on WCML Norh. This on Series S

It's also more noticeable depending on the type of traction. If it's an electric where you expect smoothly rising, falling or constant pitch from the traction motors it grates like hell. With a raspy diesel not so much. In fact making my third run on Shap with the Class 31 hardly noticed at all, but when I'm back in the 87 I'll be wincing, scrunching my ears and furrowing my brow.

If anyone from DTG is reading this, please get it sorted.

There is a constant clicking sound (like static) in the 170 on Fife Circle

It doesn't happen on all traction, which suggests to me that it's not a fundamental issue but rather something specific to particular audio and how it loops. You can get the same sort of click if you're audio editing and don't crossfade between regions, so when waveforms don't line up correctly, the audio kind of falls off a cliff and you get a click.

It does, in fact, not rolling stock, it’s with every sound file. For some reason they broke it on the console. On PC it’s fine..

I can assure you the problem is very much extant on PC. As stated previously, somewhat spoiling the otherwise great audio mix done for the Class 87. It’s just not so noticeable when running trains with less “smooth” traction sounds, particularly Classic UK diesels.

I’m going to do a run on Bernina later see how the Allegra shapes up, as it does make me wonder whether it’s how things are put together in Simugraph that’s causing the stuttering and sound squelching - the more complex the physics iterations which we know are linked to the audio - the more likely CPU and GPU are going to bottleneck.

I might be misremembering (wishful thinking?!) but I'm pretty sure I don't always hear it. For example, the 350 on WCMLS is pretty bad but the 390 seems generally fine. The 47 on BPO isn't great either. I agree that most routes seem to suffer in one way or another and, where it happens, it's consistent across runs.

I remember DTG Matt saying that they rebuilt all of the DLC for TSW5 to reformat the audio on Xbox but I'm not sure if it was related to this particular problem or if it was just space saving or something like that.

I have to say that this is by far the single most annoying thing for me in TSW because it seems like a pretty fundamental issue that other games on Xbox with looping audio don't appear to suffer from.
