Introduction The South Wales Mainline is a key commuter corridor in the south of Wales, this proposal being between Cardiff Central and Bridgend with the line via Barry and Barry Island included as well, as well as a couple of others Route Length As this route has via points and branches and the rest of it, I will break this down. Cardiff Central - Bridgend (Via Barry), Barry Island Branch & Penarth Branch: 29 Miles (47.1km) Cardiff Central - Bridgend (Mainline): 20 Miles Radyr - Cardiff Central/Queen Street (City Line) 4 Miles (Cent) / 5 Miles (Queen) Cardiff Central - Coryton (Coryton Line) 5 Miles Cardiff Queen Street - Cardiff Bay 1 Mile Forming an overall network of 59 Miles Operations Operators Transport for Wales (TfW) Great Western Railway (GWR) Rolling Stock Included Class 800 (GWR) Part of the 'A-Train' family alongside the Class 395, featured in SEHS, the Class 800 operates Intercity services across the GER Network. I decided not to because it was far too long. Rolling Stock Choices (also why this era) Class 143: A British rail icon Still to show up in TSW. Fits this route perfectly. Class 150: It's a sprinter. Plus I have seen numerous requests for the sprinter units. Class 800: Again well requested, or at least the 80- in general. Adds some Intercity into this Layers: For owners of Great Western Express the HST and Class 166 would layer as AI Trains Era choice I know Arriva is a no-go for Wales so TfW it is Thanks for reading.
Again I've got a map of a potential route like this for the valley lines to Treherbert, Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil from Cardiff Central, possible extensions being the Penarth, Coryton, Rhymney and the freight line to Bargoed for coal. Other lines like to Maesteg, Bridgend, Barry Island, Ebbw Vale and Newport are other possibilities. The lines in red are a sensible distance though.
Excellent idea and I wonder what route can this link into and provided there is a linked route feature for TSW. If you play this route on Sister game Train Sim 21 this is also sold as a Stand Alone route or combined with Great Western Main Line as the western Lines. Meaning you can operate all the way from Cardiff all the way to London Paddington Station
Well this route couldn't link with any current routes. The closest route would be either WSR by distance.
Wsr is South of Bristol Newport Swansea only logical choice is the Great Western Main Line because trains on this route towards London Paddington Station reach Reading Station. Milage Zero on South Wales lines is London Paddington station.
Yes but there is no way to connect them at the moment. You would need to build Cardiff - Paddington, which itself is most likely going to have to be broken down.
That works too. Good suggestion. Hopefully the TfW license can be obtained that's the only real hurdle.
