South West Mainline London Waterloo – Southampton Central The Route Approx. 70 miles London Waterloo – Southampton Central (31 Stations) The third rail DC route takes you on a journey along the south-west mainline out of central London and into the towns and cities of the southwest. Top speed 100mph. There are a variety of fast services and slow stopping services providing plenty of variety for players. This route stands out for the strong variety of services available to players as well as being the first Southwestern route in game – which many players have been asking for. Including a certain Dovetail Ambassador. The mainline is four track from Basingstoke to Waterloo so it is very busy for a large proportion of the line. Going into Waterloo many London skyline highlights can be seen including the Gerkin, and the London Eye. The route also features Clapham Junction now including a vast number of SWR services as well as services from Brighton Mainline it will be become a busy hub of activity in game plus the class 378 from Mildmay Line. The route also includes Northam Traincare Facility where class 444s and 450s are serviced. Airbus planes models could be introduced above Southampton Airport Parkway and at the airport. Other highlights include Eastleigh Works and Arriva Traincare Depots As SWR currently uses guards on all services there is the ability to implement guard mode on all services, route hopping can feature on a number of locations including: London Waterloo – Other London Termini Clapham Junction – Brighton Mainline Clapham Junction – Wilsden Junction (Mildmay Line) Class 444 Part of the Desiro family built by Siemens these trains were built in 2004 and operate a lot of services on the South West Mainline. They operate longer-distance services and include a First class area. Class 450 Also part of the Desiro family these trains were built in 2003 and are unsurprisingly very similar to the class 350 already in game – although these operate via third rail only. 450s operate on suburban routes. Class 66 As usual an obligatory class 66 also features on this route with some intermodal freight operations from Southampton Port. AI & Reskinned Layers Reskinned AI layers After seeing the reskinned layers at Stratford from Mildmay line I thought we could add some to this route. Class 710 (Suffragette Line) as a SWR 701 Reskinned 710 to operate Arterio services from London Waterloo and other places (When they eventually roll them out!) Class 158 (Midland Mainline) as a SWR 158/9 Reskinned 158/9 to operate services from London Waterloo to Basingstoke (Longer formation required for a 159) As well as for the occasional 158 service from Southampton to Salisbury. Option to drive 159s as far as Basingstoke? Possibility to add D-stock Train as Underground (Island Line, GWE Remaster (Not available yet) ) Along certain parts suburban London. AI Layers Brighton Mainline stock (387, 377) at Clapham Junction Mildmay Line (378) at Clapham Junction GWE (166) at Southampton Overall, this is a busy commuter route with slow stopping services and fast services giving players variety, famous landmarks when coming into Waterloo. Options for AI layers and reskins. Airbus planes down at Southampton, busy four-track line, London landmarks, depots and freight options. There is lots of action along the South West Mainline route. Lots of players have been waiting for a South West route hopefully with SWR soon to be under DfT Operator licencing won’t be an issue. SWR is my local operator so I can’t wait to have them in-game. Thank you for reading, let me know what you think!
I think this would be a great route, although I think a class 701 should be made instead of a rescinded 710, since they (will) run quite a fre services on the London end of the route. Or better still, have the route set in the South West Trains era with a class 455. Great suggestion
We already have the SWT era in TSC (although it is really bad) would be nice to see a modern SWR add-on
Thank you! I did think about implementing the 701 maybe as a Loco Add on and with special editions if it were to release as a TSW standard route.
Amazing Suggestion also potential Extra DLC for the route: £12.99 DLC Cross Country (It they get licensced) Class 221 and 220 between Southampton and Basingstoke £ 14.99 DLC could be Basingstoke to Reading Using Unbranded 165 stock and XC layers as well as GWE layers
Also worth noting the class 465 and 375 would be seen running over the line to London Victoria, although I wouldn't be surprised if they were left out for performance reasons. The Class 700 would be seen at Wimbledon, and the class 166 could be seen running underneath the line at Farnborough on the Reading-Gatwick Airport services.
