Today I will be suggesting the routes around Southeast London served by the Southeastern Metro. Specifically, I will be suggesting the SEML from Charing X and Cannon Street - Sevenoaks via Grove Park, the CML from Victoria - Orpington and Maidstone East via Bromley South, the Lewisham - Hayes branch, the Grove Park - Bromley North branch, the "Catford Loop", and the Thameslink tracks from Otford - Sevenoaks via Bat & Ball. Routes: On the SEML, the line crosses the Thames coming out of both Charing Cross and Cannon Street and joins together at London Bridge. The line heads Southeast along the chaotic junctions at Lewisham Vale, and a spur goes off to Hayes. Continuing down the Mainline, we see the Grove Park - Bromley North shuttle branch line, it passes the links at Petts Wood between the SEML and the CML and leads to Sevenoaks. The line goes much further but this is where the slow services end. On the CML, the line crosses the Thames coming out of Victoria, and splits. Part goes to Denmark Hill, splits again and goes down through Catford or to Lewisham headed for Dartford. The other part, the main part, heads down through Beckenham Jn. A link from New Beckenham on the Hayes line to Beckenham Jn is used once per day. The 2 lines rejoin at Shortlands. Between Bickley and St Mary Cray, the line diverges and goes onto the SEML to Orpington. The line continues to Swanley and on our route goes down to Maidstone East. Trains: Class 375: fast services Class 376: Slow services out of Charing X and Cannon Street Class 465/0,/1: slow services along the whole route Class 707: slow services out of Charing X and Cannon Street Class 466: connected to Class 465s Class 66: freight Layers: Class 465/9 from SEHS - Slow and Fast services Class 377 from LC - AI traffic at Victoria, London Bridge, Beckenham Jn Class 700 - Services on Catford Loop down to Sevenoaks via Bat and Ball, AI traffic at London Bridge Special Liveries: NSE stickers on some Class 465s
Here are my brutally honest thoughts on modern 3rd rail routes, I'll be honest I have just copy and pasted as the exact same applies to all three suggestions. We already have more than enough SE modern Electrostar based commuter routes, especially when you look at the gaps elsewhere. A whole region of BR has no routes in it, whole decades aren't represented and even types of services are missing. I think DTG need to continue the halt of modern se 3rd rail routes for at least another year so that other areas, eras, and operations can be represented.
Are you trying to remake the CML SEML and South London Network Workshop route for TSW 3 or not? If yes then it should allow TSW 3 to do London Victoria/Charring Cross to Faversham Runs
The idea for the route is good but I feel like we just don't need more southeastern (plus a member of DTG staff confirmed they are stepping away from SEHS finally the other day in a thread). HOWEVER, an era in which PEP's are the main tractions, thats a diffrent story. If we backdate this to the early 2000's for PEP action then this route would be amazing in TSW. Plus as driverwoods said above me, this is just a shortened version of Niklas's amazing Southeastern network for TSC.
