Clearly we are missing a couple of Southwest Chief Amtrak services from Cajon Pass. There may be two services along the route, but four services can be better. Two day, two night. Formations are two P42DCs, one baggage car, and 7 to 8 superliners.
Honestly this would be a really good addition to the route but there would also need to be "Capitol Limited" layers onto Sand Patch Grade, and if they could combine stock, then the "Pennsylvanian" on Horseshoe Curve.
I agree with the HSC AMTK Pennsylvanian services, but for SPG, DTG would have to extend that one significantly to Pittsburgh, PA so the Capital Limited can have atleast 3 stops. This would make the route so long that it would take forever to get between Cumberland and Pittsburgh, but SPG only goes as far as Rockwood and I highly doubt that DTG would extend this route to another Amtrak station, so AMTK trains on the route would be pointless with just one station on a 60 mile route when one station is about 40 miles away from the end of the route in Rockwood, but HSC can do. First the train with its real schedule, two trains actually, and then the fake schedule trains. Good for this route since the two stations are actually at each end of the route.
This is a good idea. Another one that can be considered is the Santa Fe Super Chief, this is an iconic and old passenger train that ran on the Cajon Pass, we have the F7 already. We just need the passenger cars for it, it can include a baggage, coaches, diners, dome cars and sleepers.
Ditto on the Super Chief and SW Chief. I also want to see Siemens ALC-42 Chargers in the future since they will be replacing the P42DCs. I'd also like to see a P32-8BWH in both Amtrak Ph. III (Pepsi Can) livery and Ph. V livery.
