Any Warhammer 40000 fans in here? If you want the supreme power trip of playing as an astartes (Daemonhunters and Chaosgate is pretty damn good, also Space Hulk Deathwing enchanced edition), original Space Marine would be the go to option for many years... now Space Marine II has arrived and despite some annoying bugs and such (pun intended :D ), it still has that energy that keeps you playing on and on :D

Feel free to discuss the game here, or WH40K, what you like, what you follow etc :)))

    Man, this game...
I'm kind of a new WH40K fan ever since I actually started to have the opportunity to go into game shops and delve into the Lore further.

Space Marines 2 looks amazing, but SHEEEESH is it an expensive game-
Might be a next paycheck thing lmao

I recommend getting Space Marine 1 as well... should be pretty cheap in sales... graphics isnt the best by today's standards, but it is decent and runs decent... you play as Titus, a captain, against an Ork invasion, but of course stuff gets complicated along the way

it is good to play that one, not only cos it is fun and doesnt overstay its welcome, but also cos you get nice backstory that only gets alluded to in Space Marine 2, and some reveals in Space Marine 2 are more powerful if you know what had happened in the previous game :) ... I am like halfway through the campaign, and while my PC has a hard time sometimes, it runs decent (I dont have a working SSD atm for example, which is recommended)

definitely will play this one more than once, like the previous game

I only got into Warhammer last year (currently painting up my Death Guard army) but I remember playing the first Space Marine game on the Xbox 360 back in the day, enjoying it a lot.

Space Marine 2 is absolutely amazing and it looks stunning. I finished the campaign last weekend, and am looking forward to playing through the coop campaign with my friends next. The roadmap looks promising as well, so I'm excited for what comes next :)

I am genuinely surprised that there isnt already a line of books based around exploits of Titus :) ... like, from both games, you know he is special somehow, and you want to know more, like, how come he can endure so much and stay uncorrupted... you would think from that little info you know he might eventually rise up to be someone very close to even Guilliman himself :D

and oh man, am I the only one who would thoroughly enjoy if he eventually ran his chainsword right through SPOILEEEER CENSORED (if you played at least first game, you know which pain in the backside I mean :D )?

here is also a wild speculation from my side - either in this game's DLC or in the next one, even despite him being SPOILEEER, he as a non-canon character would fall and become an especially venerated dreadnought :D

Also, a valid shout out for the warhammer game collection, Rouge Trader.
An absolutely amazing CRPG and I highly recommend it

got that on my radar and planning to add Battlesector to my games collection

as for other WH40K games, I kinda liked Mechanicus, tho I found it to be super hard and didnt proceed too far (imagine that I managed to beat XCOM Enemy Within and XCOM2 War of the Chosen which were much harder than base campaigns)... also got some Daemonhunters progress but am kinda stuck and will probably lose the campaign cos I cannot beat some missions

I quite liked Deathwing Enhanced Edition, but since I got no friends playing such stuff, AI didnt help me much in tough sections... but playing as a Librarian is supercool

oh, and for some time I quite enjoyed playing Space Wolf both on PC and mobile

and man, I would love to one day be able to play some kind of Space Marine / Mass Effect hybrid, like the gunplay/gameplay like Space Marine, but in open world environments, travelling between planets, doing assignments, maybe customizing your bolters and such not only cosmetically etc :)

I am not against this thread turning into a general WH40K appreciation thread, so I will say that it was originally some videos and PC games that got me into the stuff, also super cool lore videos

I am not that much into reading WH40K books as there are tons of em, but I like the games, the lore (especially well presented videos by those that are experts in it), I enjoy looking at nicely painted miniatures (not have the skill nor patience to do em myself)... and while it might be cheese, my fav Astartes are Ultramarines, me being a generally good guy in RPGs and such... they and Salamanders are sth closer to what I consider to be "good", even though in the world of WH40K, most stuff is generally disturbing from our perspective :D

I even had an Ultramarines keychain, but the chain fell off, so I just keep the emblem somewhere... and got a purity seal, had it on my work t-shirt on my left "pauldron"/shoulder while serving customers, was fun :D ... but no idea where I put it :/

    anyway, FOR THE EMPEROOOOR :D

did some runs on Operations mode, and it is quite fun even when the squad leader is higher level... there is always enough enemies so everybody gets their blood pumping :) ... I am mostly playing as a Heavy, loving the massive armor and ESPECIALLY the big heavy bolter... even messed around a bit with customization and created my own orange/blue Ultramarine :) loving it and looking forward to getting more cosmetics via progression... also upgraded my weapon so thats nice :) ... will definitely try more classes :)

atm I am mostly constrained by time, as stuff loads off my HDD, so loading the game itself and then each mission takes quite a long time, so I am trying then to have a longer session to make it worth my while, which I cannot always afford :) ... still, some nice fun to be had :)

So this is my first experience within the Warhammer universe, which generally isn’t my sort of thing, but with the game world being quite dry the last couple of years, I thought I’d give it a go.

it’s quite fun, got some similarities to Gears of War. Having being done with the campaign I’ve found myself in operations mode too, also as a heavy. So far the only thing I’m not enjoying are the lack of ammo & health/armour regen. You seem to go through 75% of the mission having no ammo spawns & then right at the end it’s basically unlimited. Kind of takes the fun away from playing non melee classes.

Overall though it’s a decent way to waste a couple of hours now & then & I’ve certainly enjoyed it more than Helldivers 2.

well, you can up the challenge by not picking up the ammo and being an absolute unit using only pistol and melee :D ... anyway, considering how many enemies game throws at you, I love how I can have a badass powertrip with that heavy bolter

well, I was actually considering Helldivers 2, but since I got no friends to play such stuff with, I stick with this... here you can have fun even with ppl you dont really know, and even if one is a lot stronger than you, there are still enough enemies incoming that you almost never feel like the strong guy clears everything by himself and leaves no insects for you to play with :D

it is actually one of few games where you can experience the badassery of having an Astartes under your control... sure, in Daemonhunters you got a team and all, but most of the time you face against overwhelming odds and if you play poorly there is no way you can hold off defeat... and Space Hulk: Deathwing Enhanced Edition is really fun even with AI, but since they arent great teammates, the endgame becomes harder than it needs to be, and again, I dont have friends to play that kind of thing with

so again, Space Marine 2 is great :) ... gotta get that SSD so I dont have to wait forever for the game and missions to load :D

btw if any of you guys wanna play sometime, I go under name razmatus1987 (I think, will have to check)... atm I prefer playing as a heavy - doesnt really have a melee except for those badass stomps, but maaan that heavy bolter is so badass :D

I hope they add more missions in Operations, maybe new modes where one player from a squad gets randomly picked as a dreadnaught by AI :D

Damn that’s my preferred class too ;)

After the latest patch I think a lot of other classes will be better, going to try out Assault & Tactical at some point this weekend.

Personally I can’t wait for horde mode - will be epic with heavy class.

is it Assault that has like that cool jet/jump pack, a melee weapon and only pistol? ... and I kinda hope that in some future DLC they add some class that uses terminator armor and maybe even has sth like little rocket barrages from shoulder cannons as class specialty... lol

but I mean, I would try sth different, but first I want to see where leveling up in heavy gets me

gotten a bit better with when to use melee, counters, dodges, and the like... atm with all my perks I have like 725 ammo on heavy bolter, super-epic lol... gotten some play also with Tactical (heavy bolt rifle and chainsword), kinda fun even though I was super underleveled

btw any guys here if you want to coop from time to time PM me here or on Facebook (I am there under my real name - Miroslav Kizák)
