I recently decided to put some more tracks and get my route build up a by a few kilometers more.

Now after I laid around 2 kilometers after my last station, the Google Maps Overlay suddenly is not spawning any further on the map. Hitting on Ctrl + Shift + S / Save All, which you usually do to get tiles or the Google maps spawned, is not working this time. The error is also persistent to shutting down and restarting the Editor.

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

I'm a bit afraid to say that I theoretically could know what the cause of this issue might be.

When I set my start coordinates for the route project, I set them on the station on the lowest end of my route (which is around 30 kilometers away from that point). I did so because I had issues setting said start coordinate in the anywhere in the middle of the route.

Could it be that the Google Maps overlay has a spawning border dependent upon the start coordinates?

Hm, I kind of doubt that 30 kilometers would be a reasonable limitation even for DTG's own routes like Kassel-Würzburg :) For me it's also working 32 km away from the origin. Maybe check if everything is okay with your google maps API account?

You were right. So, I found out that I didn't uprade my Google Cloud account to a paid Cloud Billing account after the 90 day free trial period has expired. Now, after a few times restarting and waiting, the Google Maps Overlay works again.

I completely forgot that I had to do so and that it does not upgrade automatically.

However, despite its name a paid Cloud Billing account gives you also a monthly limit for free.

But if you use additional services, fees may apply. Matt said that even DTG did not get into exceeding the monthly free limit, but still not the nicest way to simply get a satellite map.

When the Free Trial offer ends
The Free Trial ends when you use all of your credit, or after 90 days, whichever happens first. At that time, the following conditions apply:
