Hi, I am sure this may have been asked before so my apologies if it has. I've just upgraded to TSW5 from 3 and to be honest I haven't played TSW a lot over the years (lacks the content I am interested in). But I wanted to do a bit of exploring on my local line (Birmingham cross city) and Peak Forest (which I bought TSW5 for). So i spawned on foot at the default time on both (10am) but looking around there are no services? which seems odd.... Basically I am looking for some advice as to the best way to find out what time to spawn... I thought spawning at 10am at a suburban station with services every 10 mins would make sense on cross city but looking at the map I can't see any trains remotely near (actually I can't see any at all!). The good thing about peak forest is that when i spawned and clicked on the platform in map view i could see a timetable then i could exit and re-enter nearer that time but nothing of the sort when Spawning at Sutton Coldfield on cross city - no timetable and nothing on the OH train info displays... but thats a faf anyway.. must be a better way?
It sounds like you are clicking on 'Free Roam' instead of 'Timetable'. TSW4 introduced 'Free Roam' - a game mode with no trains running (even static trains). You get an empty route to spawn trains in and you are free to explore as you please. In order to spawn a train in, you press tab while standing and then navigate the menus. You can also do this in timetable mode for a little extra chaos. You should click on 'Timetable', then click 'On foot'. You should see your class 323s then.
Free Roam has no operating services. You will only see trains that you spawn in. You need to enter Timetable mode, you can always just walk away from a train service and it will time-out and when the game asks if you still want to complete the service just click NO, that way the full timetable will operate as normal and you will see all the train services.
I had a similar experience playing TSW. Experimenting with different spawn times may help you find the time when you have the most service.
