I don't know if anybody has posted this but this is so annoying that I don't want to drive some trains anymore. So in old versions the max speed is always the track speed. As long as you don't go faster than that you won't miss any score. But since TSW4 (I guess) the limit changes to the lowest one that I can't get any score while executing normal slow down procedure, especially now we have platinum. Any loss of the score can make you miss the platinum medal. For example, I don't play OBB 1116 in Semmeringbahn and American trains with ATC anymore. And sometimes the LZB brake curve makes me suffer. This is what is happening: In Semmeringbahn the OBB 1116 has an indicator showing 55/70/85 target after acknowledging signals. But after acknowledging, the speed limit will go down to 50/65/80 immediately (for safety or to ensure the train is not overspeeding I think, I always go 5km/h slower too) and if you are faster than that you will lose the score because of overspeeding. In American trains I always slow it down when ATC tells me to. In old versions this doesn't matter but now it tells me I'm overspeeding. And to German trains with LZB, when it performs the brake curve sometimes it will be a little bit faster than the curve but the system says OK. But now it's overspeeding and I don't think "getting a little bit faster" is my fault. Yeah I'm the "getting all the platinum" kind of guy so this really annoys me since the start. Please fix this.
I'm a "just want to drive trains and not care about medals" kinda girl, but it is ridiculous that you get penalised for being slightly above the limit. 1 or 2 miles above the limit doesn't harm anybody.
Are you certain that you are actually losing points for this? On Southeastern Highspeed TSW2 (the most recent example I have to mind - I also don't play by score), when you slowed down for speed restrictions imposed by TVM430, you would end up in the yellow section of the HUD (indicating you are speeding) but wouldn't lose any score unless you were actually exceeding line speed. Just making sure that you are actually losing score. It may help to identify which routes do reduce your score, and which don't. Furthermore, I haven't really looked at scoring since getting TSW3.
well what's ridiculous is that, in Semmeringbahn on OBB 1116, if you drive at 110km/h or 120 or whatever, after you acknowledge a signal, the limit drops to 50/65/80 and it tells you that you are wayyyyyyyyyy too fast and costs me every 32.5/65 points till I slow down.
Yes it's only TSW4 problem I think. Since we get platinum from TSW4 I'm being very careful on scores. And it's not a route problem. It's an overall problem on all trains. I think they changed the standard on speed limits. And it's not about old routes or new ones. It also costs me 15/30 points on old routes while playing in TSW4. But this is only obvious on those "acknowledge and then slow down" signaling like PZB, LZB, ATC, TVM430, ETCS when they give you a slower limit. And yeah thanks for mentioning TVM430, I just forgot this. Last night I also tried ETCS on S-bahn Zentralschweiz and it's the same. Edit: Now this problem comes with TSW5. And just tried LGV & SEHS with TVM430 and it's disaster. It continues showing "driving above the limit" when the signal tells to slow down from 320/230 to 0 (well, not to 0 but to 80 actually because at least it's not silly to say driving faster than 0km/h before stopping at the red signal).
well, you say that but if you were caught doing that irl you'd be sat infront of a manager defending your job
Oh yeah I know it does, I'm just saying if you were caught doing it. or maybe the train that you drove yesterday was involved in an incident today and needed its black box downloaded you'd be screwed
I was definitely wondering about what on God's name was causing this as I thought my game may have been set on some kind of "Easy Mode". Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this issue.
Tried the new LIRR recently. The ATC makes me crazy when it suddenly hits a low limit every time. It always goes up and down in heavy traffic. Keeping following another train between 15 and 30 mph makes me lose all the score when I just reach 30 and it tells me to slow down to 15 again and again.
I too raised this. I was told to learn the route to the point where you slow down well ahead of the system telling me to do it, if I want to avoid losing APs. To be fair, you can still win platinum medals even if you're caught speeding at times, scores are not so tight. And when they are, you're better off being a bit late than being caught speeding.
But why it was alright in TSW 2020&2&3? This just began from 4 with the platinum medal. A way to make the system stricter and make me harder to get platinum? And ATC also goes with the traffic, not just ahead of some curves. It sometimes changes between two green signals when there's a train a few signals ahead of me. I don't want to check the map all the time just to know I will follow the traffic and slow down in advance.
I agree: something is wrong. We get a penalty for exceeding the speed limit, without actually exceeding the speed limit. I am pretty sure it's a bug, and it's likely been introduced with the numerous changes made to the scoring since the introduction of Scoring 2.0 in TSW4.
Just found that I forgot one more point. Wheel slip also counts as overspeeding if the wheels spin faster than the limit. In the old times it wasn't. But now even if you just start moving from 0 with heavy freight or under bad weather, when the wheel slips and goes above the limit, the system regards it as overspeeding even if you are not actually moving at all.
at least at Xbox the time you get just +35AP cause of LZB brake curve doesn't harm the plat medals. Been driving FTF and DRA up and down these days. Yeah you will get some penalty but that was never the reason for me to fail plat. ECML has scoring problems. WCML plat works fine. Around L.A. plat for passenger works also fine for me. New York is really hard but also doable, not full points but enough for plat. and i'm achievement hunter and for tsw 5 plat hunter, so i really feel your pain. The wheelslip is really bad, as you said, with bad weather it can happen. And for short shunting services that can screw the plat medal and that sucks!
