In the TS Classic version made by Bossman Games, you can see the speedometer on the driver's side.

It Tsw version hovewer, the speedometer is nowhere to be seen.

As I was admiring the pictures of the today's article for the Spirit Of Steam, I noticed that I couldn't find the speedometer in the Stanier Jubilee's cab. In the TS Classic version of the Jubilee, the speedometer is located on the driver's side, just above the reverser. However in the videos and screenshots for Train Sim World 2, it is completely missing. Is it not implemented yet, or are my eyes just deceiving me?

Note that I don't know much about British steam engines, so as the cabs look a bit different, the Ts Classic version could be a different variant if the train. Nonetheless it would be weird if a train wouldn't have any speedometer to tell how fast it's going.

I can’t speak for this particular locomotive as I know little about it but I do know that most steam trains before the 50’s and 60’s were not fitted with speedometers.
The drivers knew their speed by instinct or by doing a quick calculation using the mile posts at the side of the track.
E.g if you go past a 1/4 mile post every 15 seconds then you are doing 60mph.

It could be this engine does not have its speedometer fitted yet but I don’t know the locomotive well enough to be sure.

Actually now that I looked it up, it seems like you're right. Many steam trains in that era, didn't in fact have speedometers. I also found a TS Classic video, where the cab looked more like in Tsw 2 and there was no speedometer. Definitely looking forward to the Spirit of steam, and all the challenge it gives.

There is a classic story from filming "The Great Train Robbery" in 1978 of them using a train without a spedo.
The crew suggested that the train was going to go ~20mph. The helicopter following the action said it was more like 50.

Just shows the skill and intuition needed to drive these things.
I also think there was a degree of unofficial flexibility with speed limits when it came to making up time. That’s a dangerous game to play.

With the time period set this is before speedometers were widely fitted to locos, the Bossman Games locos cabs are set to preserved condition and later BR days, which have that and safety systems.

Yes, but some people like to drive HUD-less.

Well with are luck even if the loco had a speedomiter in the cab it probably wouldn't work either way.
