I am sure that you as passengers have encountered services that join somewhere, travel as one train for some time, then split and each section going to different destination... let me give you an example REX6 is a double traction aka 2x Siemens Desiro ML EMUs, one is usually in OBB CityJet livery and the other one in Gysev... usually Gysev EMU waits, then the OBB one arrives, and they couple together... they PIS is different on each unit, so if you are travelling further than Wien Hbf, you have to choose the EMU to board... at Wien Hbf it has a longer dwelling pause, and continues towards Pottendorfer Linie... in Wulkaprodersdorf it splits, one half goes to Eisenstadt while the other to Deutschkreutz via Sopron and a short section in Hungary So I thought it would be interesting to lets say begin a service as a double traction for example, then at certain station you will do the uncoupling operation, and will be given a choice which service (and unit) to take Or vice versa, start a service at the other end as a single unit, and then at certain station couple to another to finish the service as double traction As a side note, also Railjets and other long-distance trains do this, but that would require routes with length not feasible in TSW, so I would relegate this feature for commuter traffic
Some routes have this already, albeit in a limited capacity. Would like to see more of this. I suppose it all depends on the timetable used and which part of a route is represented.
Brighton Mainline 377 southern service divides at Purley front 4 coaches to Tattenham Corner back 4 coaches to Caterham
This would be difficult to implement, but amazing if they could. The PIS on London Commuter already struggles with the London Victoria to Eastbourne and Littlehampton services, since the train still says 'Eastbourne and Littlehampton' after decoupling. The reason it is possible is because we can't drive the Eastbourne part of the service (I think)
Not on that service, but those that go to 'Littlehampton and Ore' or 'Hastings and Southampton Central' You'll divide at Haywards Heath in the timetable, then take the lead unit down south. Same thing happens on the northbound journey - you couple up to a unit at Haywards Heath.
No I think the game would have you arrive at Purley open/close doors service then ends npcs would uncouple the train
