Welcome onboard the Stadler Euro 9000, the beast that connects Europe. With a length of 23m and a maximum power of 9000kW, the Euro 9000 is one of the largest and most powerful locomotives to ever roam the European rail network. The Euro 9000 is a full-hybrid locomotive, being able to run under diesel power on unelectrified lines and under electric power with all 4 common European catenary voltages. All delivered locomotives are certified for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands, with planned versions certified for Eastern Europe and France.

    Quick Facts:
    Catenary Voltages (max. Power): 25kV~ (9000kW) | 15kV~ (8000kW) | 3kV= (6000kW) | 1.5kV (4000kW)
    Starting Tractive Effort: 500kN
    Max. Speed: 120km/h
    Wheel Arrangement: Co'Co'
    Gauge: 1435mm (Standard Gauge)
    Length over buffers: 23.02m
    Height: 4.29m
    Width: 2.9m
    Mass: 123t
Safety Systems: ETCS, PZB, SCMT, RSC, ATB EG, TBL1+

The Stadler Euro 9000 is part of the Eurodual family of which it is the most capable. Similar locos are the original Eurodual (dual-voltage diesel; 6200kW), the Euro 6000 (quad-electric; 6000kW), and BR Class 99 (diesel-electric; 6000kW). Direct competitors with the Euro 9000 are the Siemens Vectron DM, the Alstom Traxx F160 MS3 LM, and the Newag Griffin.

To this day the Euro 9000 was only ordered by two leasing companies, European Loc Pool (40 units) and Alpha Trains (12 units). These companies leased their locos to rail transport operators, like Rail Force One, RTB Cargo, HSL Logistik, Lokomotion, Ecco-Rail, LTE Logistik und Transport, or IGE Bahn.
The Euro 9000s are often used for heavy trains or trains that required a locomotive change in the past (electric to diesel). As the Euro 9000 is capable in almost every scenario, the limiting factors are only its weight and cost. The size isn't a limiting factor, as Stadler has put extra care into designing the bogies for tight radii so it's less stressful on the track than other 6-axle locos. But other than the EuroDual, the Euro 9000 only has an 1800l diesel tank, limiting its range on non-electrified lines. But the Euro 9000 can, in addition to both electric and diesel, also be equipped with batteries.

Due to a rearranged engine layout, the Euro 9000 features a central walk-through engine room. Near the cabs, you'll find the diesel engines and motor coolers, whilst the electric propulsion systems are located in the middle. The locos are also prepared for the new DAC hybrid coupler, which is meant to replace the old screw couplers still in use all over Europe. A novum in rail vehicle design is the cab door with electronic locks, so drivers can use their company ID to gain access.

With its large German and soon-to-start Dutch network, the Euro 9000 is a perfect modern freight loco for TSW. It fills multiple gaps in rolling stock representation, including 6-axle locos, diesel power, and modern computerized rolling stock. It would also be the first dual-mode rolling stock in TSW, which is a rising sector in the rail vehicle market. Its unique looks, broad certifications, and high power could bring great diversity to the continental European rail traffic in TSW.

absolute unit and beast and a train beauty at that... and I believe there are versions available/on offer that can be used also in passenger service for vmax 160 kph... not sure if I personally could handle this one in expert mode, but maybe sth at the level of 218 or Vectron, aka sweet spot of being an ordinary loco with advanced features for those who want to use that being available

The Euro 6000 (electric only) can be equipped for 160km/h but a Co'Co' loco for passenger services is a bit bulky and isn't used for these services by any of the operators (to my knowledge). The EuroLight (Dual) is a smaller Bo'Bo' variant of the EuroDual family, which is meant for both freight and passenger services. The BR Class 88 is a version of the EuroLight and is sometimes used in passenger service.

Nice and I see this loco at home on the Hollandstrecke Duisburg-Utrecht via Zevenaar if that were to be built or Osnabruck Hengelo via Bad Bentheim. One of the scenarios must involve the use of Diesel power for the loco
